hi all my van is going in for some repairs for two weeks , 4 new panels ........say no more
and all im use to is ro so we have hired a van put a tank in ,pump ,battery , and a di from my ro
and what I would like to know is ....is it better di - tank like my ro is or tank - di - pump and how fast do
I run the water through the 25 litre di full pressure or half ..what cheers Edd

I would have DI in van for 2 reasons-

1. resin will last longer with lower flow rate going through it.

2. Fill tank at full mains pressure from tap + if you run low during day you can top up from custy's tap.

Either tank > pump > di
                     or
          tank > di > pump
Either way in/out on di has to remain in same direction wether sucked or pushed through by pump.

I would have the pure water going into the tank, as it will reduce the chance of any problems occurring with air being drawn in from the pump, or leaks after the pump.

The flow rate will depend on how fast you want to fill the tank.

so it dosent matter how fast the water is through the resin then   yes or no mines now di - tank - pump
and seems to work better than my Ionic set up lol

I don`t get what you mean Edd,you should be tank to pump to DI to reel is that what your doing.

No its the same as my Ionic set up di to tank to pump works a treat no leaks and jets out 15 feet
so we have put bypass to the tank to relieve pressure i will go and take a pic

water is still ooo ppm so it must be ok I find putting a 10 inch particle filter after the di and before the tank
it stops all the bits resin going in the tank which keeps the tank clean , water from the tank into the pump
then to the hose reel ,this way the pump is not working so hard and no bits of resin going into the pump
or worse going onto and drying on the windows ,the bypass is for when I an working on my own its an ro
flow switch it can be flowed back to the tank as to cut the pressure to the brush . This is only  temp while the
van is fixed for 2 weeks its my version of a variflow

You`ve got the pump upside down,and you get bits of resin going into the hose if you`ve connected the DI round the wrong way.There are arrows on the DI for in water and out,get these round the wrong way and you`ll get a high TDS reading and bits of resin coming through.

wtf ive been doing this 3 years now I think I know which way round it goes and the pump NOT upside
it can go anyway
the di has been on the ro machine for years but you always get bits of resin in the filter just keeps things clean

yep i agree pump can go any way up or down, but if one of the connections leaks, it goes into the pump damaging it maybe even breaking it, all for the sake of turning it the other way round

If you get ANY resin coming from your DI then you have a faulty DI IMO. I've used two 11Ltr ones for over 4 years & never had any resin get through. The higher the flow through a DI the less the time it gives 000ppm.

today was the first day and we were very pleased with are cheap setup £10  for tank ,pump
was £85 total £95 lol

Yes but it will still produce the same amount of pure water. You may have to slow it down a little when the reading starts to rise, but by then it's time to  start thinking about changing it anyway.

Yes fast, you don't want to be hanging around waiting on your tank filling, and it won't make any difference to the life of the resin.  When the reading goes to 1 slowing the water flow down will bring it back to 0.
