Was just reading a post about rinsing and about brush cleaning to make a better/quicker job.


So how do you guys keep you brush clean when working?

very interested to hear NWH, Mark and Peter F's answer to this (in a good way)

Mostly the brush keeps itself clean.  Like I said in the other rinsing post you are cleaning windows with pure water, what is on the window usually just rinses through the brush and down the window, keeping the brush and window clean.  If however the brush does get dirty for whatever reason, I would just turn the water on and move my hand quickly over the bristles a few times.

One of the benefits of hot is that it clears the brush very fast. I can go from a dirty gutter straight to a window. (that's an exageration i probably do the window twice to make sure but you get the idea)

Along with this I use a very high flow and fan jets which spread the water across both the brush and the window.

On milky frames, same thing. The hot system clears the brush almost instantly by the next window.

A mono brush will keep itself clean as Peter rightly says,with the other flocked brushes try this as it works really well.Simply just go out and buy a cheap comb,brush through the bristles when dry and this will thin out the ends of the flocked brush,brush them through from the base of the bristles until you can feel it brush through with no snagging.You will find that when the brush then becomes wet it finds it more difficult to retain the dirt and every now and again with a quick flick of the fingers or a quick comb it will be like new again.Do it when leaning in the back of the van though cos if anyone see`s you they`ll think your barking mad lol.

same as everyone else. I just run my fingers through the brush. Cobwebs get plucked off, flakey paint takes a few seconds longer.
A good flow rate when cleaning helps as well.

i take my hose connector off the hose that connects to your tank so pure water comes out then rubb my hand over the bristles with the pure water on the bristles at same time hands get a bit wet though and maybe a wet foot or two paint flakes and cobwebs just pick them out

I also find running my fingers through the brush is the best way and the comb idea is also good

I myself run hands over bristles with pure coming out and hand pick webs ect off.



Comb is very good idea with try that when I get a flocked brush, I dont and have never used them because the thought of them holding dirt (it put me off)

Any more ideas guys or something you have tried, it helps us all posts like this.

TFR might clean it but it won`t get rid of the bits in the bristles,to get the bits right out and i mean from the bottom of the bristles use the comb.

On the window cleaning DVD on wfp, it showed a little tip, to clean your brush on a clean bar of the frame, and really give it a good flick over it, that apparently cleans the brush.
