Hi.
At the back of my van I have 2 reels with microbore.
When I am parked up, I sometimes find it difficult to pull out the hose without either scraping the paintwork under the rear lights or jamming under the rear doors.
Has anyone invented a guide/divertor that allows you to pull out the hose without any of these problems?

Pull a good amount of hose out before you start walking,don`t let it coil up in loops before or it will tangle but this is the best way i find.

expensive I think at £18 for three, but I hear their really good, and versatile too, with ground spikes to avoid garden obstacles. m They hug the tyre on van so the hose can slide rather than snag under wheel.

Are the reels fixed in the back or loose?  If loose, you could put longer tank - reel hose so as to have reel sat at the side of the van or at the front even?

Update:-

The 2 reels are fixed to the floor as far back as possible.
I have a hozelock reel already fitted to the side door for filling up the tank, so there is no more room at the side.
Pulling out perhaps too much hose I find hazardous, as some idiot always wants to squeeze thru the gap between the van and a parked car and possibly trip!

Hozelock do a hose guide  that gets fitted to the wall, some guy's fit these in there vans.

I had this problem to untill i came up with this idea see picture may seem a bit of a bodge but i dont have anymore problems with the hose catching on the side of the doors.

Thanks for last post. 
I have seen the hozelock as per picture.  I see you have a good idea however as I do a lot of city work, I am sure the bracket would be broken by me either reversing or another driver nudging forward in to it.  Thanks for pics!

i think you asked a very good question, the picture was the best solution (well done) but I can't help thinking that this could be improved on.

I have had the same thoughts but for different reasons. I use an electric reel that winds the hose in like lightning and that is the reason I would like the guidance system (winding in more than winding out). I think the hoselock part shown will probably play a part in a more complete solution.

I have a couple of metres of hose.. from the pump .. to my reel....

so i simply take my reel out of the back door and pop it anywhere i want... face it left or right etc,, or even at take it to the side of the van....

i cant see the point of bolting them inside the van, surely you have just described a hindrance?.......

and you still have to leave a door open, so if you are having problems... pop it on the floor...solved.

I have over 100 metres of microbore on the hose reel and often work a distance from the van.  By bolting it to the floor it is much faster to reel in the hose. If too far away from the van, for security, I gently close the back van door over the extended hose without any detrimental effect to pressure. I would not work any other way than have the reel secued to the van floor.
