if you grow you will, thats something you really need to sit down and think about to be honest because a little more at the start can save alot of hassle and money if you dont get it right from the start

If doing commercial work I allow 100 ltrs an hour per person(constant use). But remember you have breaks and then there is the setting up time etc. I find on my largest commercial jobs allowing for what I just said 500 ltrs will go for about six hours for me.(I have a 500 ltr tank) However if two of us are working 2.5 hours its empty!!!

Domestic I can go all day and use about 300 ltrs as long as ther are no first cleans as then I use more.

Thanks for the insight  I have been stressing for a bit now trying to choose the right system with the right van , but at the moment I only have a full weeks work !  I only travell a few miles to work , so if i ever run out I can always pop home and top up . My mind is finally at rest . . . . thank you

Jonah , you mean you are topping up from a waterbutt at home... already filled with pure water... or do you mean with a di vessel?.... as you can top up anywhere with that.

Ilingworth was where I started out many moons ago !  Yes I have only a weeks workload , but that is in my plan for what I need   I havnt been on this fantastic forum that long really , but I wish I had found it earlier .  I thought you would be glad that I had decided to take the plunge and convert to the dark side ( wfp )

bought a peugeot expert.... and a blooming 250 litre tank.... was too small in no time...

have a 650l tank now... and its just about right.

i know about the limits... but i dont totally fill it , and when i do its a quarter empty in no time..... will fit nicely in my next van lol.

I did the same,.. went wfp when I had a pug partner, but bought the biggest tank I could physically squeeze into it and then changed for a bigger van as soon as I could!

Jonah,... 300 - 400 litres a day will be more than enough for an average day,.. BUT don't plan for an AVERAGE day,.. plan for the longest busiest day you can imagine,.... you can never have too much water, but its very easy to have too little.

I'd recommend a 650 litre tank for a 1 man setup if your van will take it. I have a 400 litre tank and I do find it too small on busy days.

If you're in a soft water area, topping up DI only from a custies tap might be an option (With their permission!), and a smaller tank might be an option then,.. but for the extra few ££££ a bigger tank is a sensible option.

This is totally doing my head in ! Looked at about 30 vans  so far , and looking at the payloads . What I want is for my existing customers , but want enough space/ payload for new custys ( have 20 waiting for me to start )
