xtel normallt spit if uver extended, they is there fault, you may not have done this today I I would bet money it has been done before hand, if you start hearing a cracking sound this is what it is, thing with them is after time they extend more and more causing the problem you now have, I have done this twice now but they are cheap to replace so no real harm done.

I'm very impressed with Alex replying to this.(I mean helping the guy get a pole because he can't work without it)

I agree WW i've broke two xtels 17' and it's my fault for having the sections out too far- but it's still a great pole. It's my c;umsyness that puts me off the slx, breaking something at £300 is different to £65. Also when clearly gets another one and he breaks it it will be in a different place so he can still make a pole out of the the bits remaining.

You are not on your own, I have got 4 excell poles in the van, all split , snapped or  repaired repaired on nearly every section.

If there ever was a fragile crap pole that is them

You did Wayne, all packed ready to go out in the morning.

Due to popular demand (and twisting a member of staff's arm) we have extended the pole deadline until tomorrow morning.

I wouldn't be too hasty Lee. I have a 28ft H-xtel and has been in constant use over the past 9 mths but now is getting a little tired in some parts. So getting the 17ft G-xtel will preserve the life of the more expensive pole( H-XTEL) Hopefully !! :)

I've got to stick up for the xtel they are both brilliant and cheap. It may well be that Alex was where the closed lenght idea came from but the poles that went before them were awfull.

They are cheap (by comparison) and great to work with.

I want an slx, but the question is am I too clumsy?

Pittmonkey ive got the hybrid 35- don't like it too heavy.

One of the reasons I went for the 28ft was the weight knowing I was intending to use it 95% of the time.

This 17ft option on around 50% of my work will now give me a bit of a breather. (especially in this heat) while also prolonging the life of the 28ft

You'd have to be either very, very heavy handed or jeff capes to break the sl-x. The best investment you can make in wfp is the pole IMO. ;)

now where getting somewhere tony the slx is better than facelift , true or not i find face lift great but youve used both so lets have a true write up mate and if you are coming to barnsleyperhaps a meet up so i can see the pole mate  ;D

It's a tricky one dave, there's not much in it. The sl-x IMO is the better pole but you see, it falls between two facelift choices  (actual) 21ft & 27ft with the sl-x being (actual) 25ft.
There's more to it than that but the sl-x is lighter & more rigid.
