Extender or universal?
« on: May 13, 2008, 08:38:08 am »
Looking to get a new pole and have always had an 18ft universal.

Does anyone have an 18ft extender? are they any good and is it ok having 4 sections as oppose to 3 on the universal?

Cheers

The 18ft Extender is in three sections not 4. The extender is a good lightweight pole, but will not last as long as a Universal pole.

Another option is the 4 sectioned (which is a lot easier to use than 3) 17ft Xtel, made by the same firm as both of the above. It is very light, compact and easy to use especially when compared to your current Universal. Cost about £50 (+delivery + VAT).

Out of the 2 I would go for an extender, but they are really last years poles.  The 17ft xtel that Alex mentioned really is a cracking pole and wipes the floor with both of them.  Much better clamps and so light in comparison.

Thanks Alex,

Is the Extel rounded sections or are they shaped like the extender? and whats the length of the 17ft extel closed?

Thanks

Is the 17 foot xtel likely to last as long as the 18 foot universal?

Hi Riz

Universal would be the last pole I'd ever buy again.  Too heavy.

Extender is fine @ 12ft but not really much use @ 18ft.

XTEL is a good little pole for the money.  first choice out of the lot.

Ideal for down stairs and up on standard houses, if they have heavy use the clamps get loose tighten them a few times, when this goes past this it is time to renew the pole as it starts to spin these are my finindings from using them.
