Hi all

Had a new 100psi shurflo with digital varistream for a couple of months now & as i've posted before i have had nothing but trouble with it. It's a ready made pump box from cleantech & to be honest it's been a love/hate relationship. when (& i mean when) it works it's great but when it don't it's nowt but hassle! It's driving me mad.
Today it worked perfectly all day then with an hour to go i disconected my di's to test tds (big mistake). since doing this it's not pumping properly & sounds like a machine gun!!! I'm pretty shure it's air in it but i can't get it out, i've tried everything i can think of with no joy.

So, if anyone has any idea how to get the air out & can put me out my misery i would be so, so grateful & promise not to flame at you or any of your posts for the rest of the year

put a short hose on the outlet and suck while operating the pump, or operate the pump with the nothing on the outlet.

Try by-passing your di vessils as well

hi tony before you connect your hose to the hose reel let it run on full blast for around 1 minute then gradually reduce this will get shut of any air locks .

Mine does it sometimes when the tank is low. I have to disconnect just after the di (i've only got one) and run the pump at max for a few seconds then reconnect and it's fine. I expect you've tried that though. Might be a daft question but are you 100% sure you have no air leak such as a misplaced o ring in one of the di's?

Thanks guys but tried them all tonight & still no joy. even took the thing to bits & ptfe'd all the threads just incase but still no difference. It's the noise that's quite worrying, do pumps normally do this when they've got air in? it seems to be coming from the base of the pump.

If any air got into my old pump a quick blast at full flow would sort it.

All new o rings & the pump stops dead when disconnected & doesn't cycle so it's as air tight as its gonna get + it worked fine before disconnecting the di. I can see this being a hammer job!

There would have been a bit of air in them when i tested the tds as i (with my mouth) pumped about 10ml out of each to check. it must be this that has got into the pump or strainer but it won't shift. I've bypassed them too.

  by o rings i mean the big black rubbery ones on the top of the di - i managed to blow one out once and unseat it with too much pressure. Seems really odd how the pressure varies so much, mines been really good (so far). When i get that hammering noise sometimes if i waggle the pipes and the inline filter it disperses the air bubble and quietens it down.

Just to clear something up-

It is pumping water but at a reduced flow, so i have to increase flow on controller,  but it's making a noise like a machine gun when running.

No, i mean the o rings the hozelok's- in/out on di's. I don't have pressure anymore as i have di's before pump now.

But, if you could temporarily connect the di after the pump and then pressure up i reckon you will have a good chance of spotting a leak you'll here it hissing and spitting water. If you have a leak before the pump air is being sucked into the vessels and you'll struggle to spot it.

try it without varistream tony you could have a dodgy one the dial varistream are the best imo .

The increased noise could be due to the pump vibrating against the tin pump box, have you checked the mountings ?

Yeah, it's definately coming from the base of the pump, think i'll be giving cleantech a ring if it don't improve tomorrow.
