Removal of film left on new frames
« on: April 29, 2008, 04:19:15 pm »
Hi Guys,
can anyone tell me the best and easiest way to remove the film that is left on new frames when they are fitted.

I have a customer that has had new windows fitted on the cheap but they left the film on and now it is baked on by the weather.

Heat is the only effective solution I've found. Hot water or a hairdryer,... still takes a lot of time though!

whitespirt and razor blades have been the most effective for me on the harder stuff

Easy i do loads of these.

Just pick a corner and they pull off if any residue left be get a silicon remover paste and put on a cloth and wipe over.

Don't worry it won't remove the sealant aroung the window but does clean the frames up nice.

or white spirit will clean them up also as said above.
