ive just got a bigger van and was going to put a 500ltr tank in it but i have already a 250ltr upright tank in my old van, and was wondering about getting another to fix together to make 500ltrs. i am going to join the two tanks via the outlets and have a "y " garden hose branch in between.
hopefully the two tanks will fill and empty together through the joined outlets, has anyone else done this, or have any advise on how to set it up.

The systems you propose works well for many other window cleaners. I know of one window cleaner who has three tanks linked in this way.

The only downside is that two tanks can be harder to secure than one tank.

y peice connected 2 barrels together to make 50lit and leave trolley in the van.

alex, can these tanks be dispatched straight away or do i have to wait for the manufacturers

one thing you need to remember is when you connect your tanks you will need to use larger bore pipe so that each tank fills at the same rate otherwise airlocks are likely.

i fill from the top with a transfer pump and 1 1/4 hose, i was hoping that the water would fill the tanks equally, just by the weight of water forcing it in to the other tank and the water finding its own level, i cant see how a bigger hose would benifit as the tank outlet is only the same size as the hose. or have i got the wrong end of the stick, more advise would be great, thanks

I tried it when I was using a trolley,... for some reason it always empties just 1 barrel, and the other sits there full while the pump sucks in air out of the empty one,...

Emptying the tanks together is simple, just use the 'T' piece, but for successful filling you will need to fill one, then the other, then top the first one back up again. (does that sound like I've done this myself before!!)

The tanks are delivered straight from stock. Delivery speed depends on which day you order and the route of the delivery lorry that week.
