There is an Inland Revenue hotline which you can call without giving your details if you want.
Can remember the number but I'm sure it would be easy to find if you wanted to.

I have't had much bother with these people in recent years, but when I did I used to have a camera in the van.  I'd take (or even pretend to take) photos of them cleaning, and try to get their vehicle in the shot.

I didn't even have to say anything, the obvious impression was that the photos would soon find their way to the dole office.

That soon got rid ;D

If they're on benefits they should be declaring any money they earn whether it's from cleaning 20 houses or 200.

This is something the SLWCN has finally got through to the Councils we are currently working with. Any unlicensed window caught their details as well as to the PF are passed to the inland revenue. From this they are compiling a report how bad the situation is.

Any new window cleaners that apply for a licence their details are passed onto the inland revenue. Hopefully this will make it harder for illegal window cleaners and if they want to do window cleaing full time they will start have to put up their prices in order to make a good living.

This will go a long way to helping the trade here in Scotland.

With regards to England and Wales the only way to stop this is report them to authorities if you have strong evidence they are claiming benefits.

grass them up, why should they claim benefits - paid for by us!  makes me mad, the inland revenue give a 3 month grace for all new businesses, anyone with 2 clues will know if they are sticking to it within 3 months.

personally I'd like to shoot them but I know I can't. :(
I've never been to bed with an ugly bird but I've woken up with loads!

What if they kick the stuffing out of you when you go to 'sort them yourself'. Like my 5'5" dad used to say, 'no matter how big (tough) you are there is always someone bigger (tougher)'.
