How did you all go on training someone up....?  its nerve tingling isnt it?

you have one eye on your own work, one eye on the trainee, and another on the house as a whole when its done.. hoping them top windows are ok.... ( as you cannot inspect them)

not to mention customers coming out and asking the new guy questions he cannot answer.... showing him to be a novice, so to speak....

i had some fun i must admit.. and the company was a refreshing change .... but oh the things they do....

ive trained many lads over the years boy was it stressfull, yes youve always got that worry of 'are the they doing it right'

i remember one particular lad i was training i told him eventually when he did ladder work, top windows he would get a pay rise on some work we had to do he had to go on the a frame ladder to do downstairs and he thought he was going to get more pay 2 days into the job, believe me some of them want money for old rope

ive had some good lads but also some right muppets train them right from the start check their work and get feed back from the customers

can you believe  lost him for a short while.... new customer had turned my price down including the conservatory.... but accepted the rest of the house clean..... so off he went.... and i was taken aback when i realised the customer had changed her mind when she saw the frames being cleaned... and accepted the con... after all ... went round the back to check .... he was cleaning the conservatory roof!!!!!!

oh despair.... ..

but he was willing and hard working.... and the con roof was looking good... but the pure water was a bloody waste.... anyway i ended up explaining to the customer .. my friend had misinterpreted what she had said... and we normally charge £45 for a roof... so you have had a  freebie   ... so she gave us £15 extra  .. so ......

was funny though.

When I had a mate help me out a few times The day he started I had a bungalow to do ins and outs with a conservatory.  I told him to do the conservatory and then do the insides of the conservatory.   

He did the outs then went inside.  Then he kept popping outside again and again to touch up bits that he had missed.  In the end I told him to redo the outsides as he had smeared nearly all the glass with his touching up.  He soon picked up the art of squeegeeing but this was a good house to start on as he could see how bad he was doing. 

Every house we called at I explained about having the newbie with me and if they werent happy about the clean I would sort them out foc.  No-one complained or rang.
He only lasted 4 days.  Every day he was totally knackered.  Funny really as he had always dissed w/c as an easy job.

If i had a newbie with me id make him do ground windows for the first few days at least.

then if any mistakes can easly be corrected.

a.visit their own home

b.give him a squeegee and mop

c.show them your technique

d.tell them to repeat this process at least 50 times and you will pick them  the following  morning

e.keep them on the bottoms so mistakes can be rectified.

why was it a waste. mine come up loverly when done with pure water
