collecting in the rain
« on: April 11, 2008, 05:40:01 pm »
I've been working hard this week, but had little time to go collecting.Got rained off today and i would have liked to go collecting tonight but the rain is still coming down hard in Gateshead.
Do you think its a bad idea to go out in the rain especially collecting the work i did today?    ???

I can not imagine that it will make you look desperate...

You have worked hard and are merely collecting that which you are owed.

Cheers
Dave.

the answer to your question is do it.

It does not make you look desperate, many other business' would collect money in the rain and you are no different, I wish BT didnt collect in the rain.

I personally dont collect I have all payments sent or paid online as I do not get paid for collecting.

Try and stop collecting full stop then you wouldn't have to get wet! ::)

I don't get paid to collect, so I do not collect.  :)

Bill and SAE, best thing I've ever done, never collected.

Cheque, postal order, Paypal, Nochex, or Banktransfer. :)

Works great, and people love it.

Collecting is not all bad, gives you the chance to inspect your work, get to liase with the customer and often gets you more work (like - can you wash the gutters/conservatory next time please?).

This is the question he's asked....all you guys have done is tell him what YOU do.

OK it's good advice for the future but hardly answering his immediate question.

I know what you mean; the rain's comming down sideways and you knock to get paid and the customer looks at you like you've just cleaned their windows five minutes earlier.

I'd personally give it a miss and collect another time; but then again I'm not as tough as some of the guys here.

it is not about being tough, it is a simple business transaction, I dont collect but to the few that do, it they have worked and want to collect do it, if it is raining you get wet and... we clean in the rain and get wet but still expect to get paid.

it is not about being tough it is about running a business, that is what you are so  treat it as such.

I don't collect but when i did i used to do it on a friday evening whatever the weather.

The customers don't mind you have done the work so collect your money.
