Does this happen? - low water in tank causing slow down?

Due to taking on more work I have been running very (very) low on water at the end of the day and the flow of water out of the end of the pipe has been really really really slow - to the point of tiny spurts making it impossible to use.
Does the low level of water in the tank cause the pump to cycle on and off? Does the pump need a certain amount of pressure at it's inlet to work?
Has anyone thought of pressureising a tank to maintain the right pressure?

It may be because the tank has air in it ,try unscrewing the lid when it happens to see  ;)

It will be drawing air and some water, instead of water only, when the water level is so low it dosn't cover the top of the hole in the bottom of the tank.  Park on a slope where possible, so that the outlet hole in the bottom of the tank, is lower than the side without the hole.

Clean - the tank is vented - othewise water would not come out
Peter - theres definitely enough water covering the outlet.
Maybe the battery is running down by the end of the day? and doesnt get the chace to recharge fully?

If i get below half a tank (650ltr) i often get an air lock in the di vessel when i brake or corner hard, the pump gulps air instead of water and i need to clear it on the next job.
Maybe your battery is beginning to get tired at the end of a tank load?

DJW - there might be a clue there... on my previous job the water was low, and driving to the last job where the problem was maybe air got in the pump? Difficult to see though, but I see what your saying.

Mine does it every time, i take the connector off the di - reel side and pump on max for a few seconds to clear it.

If there is a spluttering of water then it is an air lock, if you hold your brush upright and the flow of water goes up and down then it is your battery.

DA - yes, it is going up and down like a pretty waterfall  :-[
Looks like battery is suspect then.
