H-XTel Repair question
« on: April 06, 2008, 10:10:42 am »
The first 2 sections on my H-Xtel are spinning round due to a bit of wear. Was thinking of removing the clamp turning the sections round and replacing the clamp.

Adjusting the clamps to much and the sections don't slide in/out. The wear is just below the clamp due to using all sections closed.

Can the clamps be taken off then replaced or would it have to be cut off and replaced with a new clamp?

What would be the best way to removing the clamp if it is possible?

Thanks
Wayne

Have you tried tightening up the screws on the clamps?

You can get replacement parts.

If I recall Gardeners sell parts at a reasonable price.

There plenty of life in the clamps but here lies the problem, I can adjust the clamps to stop the sections from turning but then the sections wont open. The worn part is directly beneath the clamp. Due to more use when the pole is fully closed.

I know Alex sells the High Acrylic Adhesive to fix the clamps back on, can't see the same clamps on his site but know doubt he will have some. Just thought if you can take the old clamp off, spin the section round and replace the clamp this would do the trick.

Might be worth giving Alex a ring.

Can see what you mean now. Not sure if it would work.

I expect some other techno on the site will be able to advise if plausible or not.

Sorry I cant give you a quick solution to the equation.

Removing the clamp would be very difficult to do without damaging the section as it is bonded on.  Give me a ring for some possible solutions.
