I ;ve got a static system so don't need that much space in a van so was looking at fetting Vavara with double cab to actas car/ van.

Has anyone else got this vehicle and if so is it ok for w/c??  Presume could get 400lts / DI can and pump in back ok?

I run a ford ranger with a custom 650L tank 2 reels but no di all under a truckman.  The navara is a bigger and better pickup.  However with deisal prices the way they are I know I'd be better off running a van and a car.  You should easy get the gear in you want.

Thanks for info.  Where do you carry poles?  Presumably roof rack is only option??

I'm not too sure either tbh.  The cost of buying small car and small van will not be that much more than buying a pick-up...and it will be more practical for wife and I to have 2 vehicles.  Looked at some owners reviews of the Navara and they are not good.  Seems the  warrior is better if you want to go down the pick-up route.  I'm still unsure

Sorry for the late reply I've been out.

I got the Ranger as I thought it would be better to just have it all in one car.  But in the end I got a cheap second car which now works out cheaper and better as we have 2 cars.  I always used to worry how much excess water I was carrying around after work as it would swallow up the mpgs on domestic use. 

I carry my poles on the top.  A small van is better all round.  Heres a pic.

I'll have a 400ltr tank. Navara's seem to be £15K to 18K.  Small van and car would not be much more

everyone i speak to sucks the air through their teeth and says how much they cost to run...are they really that bad??

£70 in my van gets me about 550 miles. i think that is good. ive been told £70 in a l200 or the like will get about 400. ok a lot less but would £70 in a big van, i.e. a transit do that?

These motors are low geared. Some of the newer ones have a sixth gear. They are not made for economy. I put thirty quid in mine a time normally and it will get me about 150 miles. They do better obviously when the tank is empty. Mine is only used for work now.

Your Ranger looks really good though, very professional. Some of the L200 varients look a bit too flashy for my taste, a bit pikey to be honest.

On the back of the Wickes catalogue is an advert for the Isuzu pickup which starts at £13,999 plus vat. A friend of mine drove an Usuzu Trooper for years and swore by it. Is the pickup as good?

I went down to the west country show the other week, and the round trip of about 320 miles cost me about £23.00, but my little combo is dual fuel and that was on the gas

The comparison with a sprinter though is maybe a tad unfair to the sprinter as it has a payload of over double the pick up.  Thinking of pick ups, I'd say the Navara is the best but it's pricey, so for the money a Ranger is good.  Most of the others have a small load bay.

My ideal van would be something along the lines of a Nissan Primatstar, Renault Traffic, Vauxhall Vivario.  I think the fuel consumption would be better on these, and the payload is as good as a pickup.
