I have a 200 gpd RO.

I have no problems with water pressure.

What is the max these ROs can take or is there a recomended limit.

I run min between 60 and 80 on the guage but would love to turn it up more.

A low pressure 4040 membrane has a maximum pressure of 225psi. As for a merlin..... no idea.

i had a 300gpd ro and on the plastic casing was a sticker that read max operating pressure 125 psi.  I think thats for the smaller ones, 4040s can take more so i would probably have it about 90, 100 psi

I seem to recall it's the same here on my Purefreedom 300GPD, 125psi.
