carbon filter

Hi all
quick question

I changed from a di set up to a ro set up, do i still need the carbon pre filter or is this a waste now.

Your RO should have 2 carbon filters as standard.

Ideally before an RO membrane you should have the sediment filter, a carbon block filter (chlorine) and a granular activated carbon filter.  It is quite possible to run an RO membrane with only one carbon filter but you will need to make sure you change it regularly as this is what protects the RO membrane from the chlorine.

We do sell them as do many other suppliers. You'd have to buy a housing for it as well.  You can get by probably fine with just two but make sure that you change your carbon filter roughly every 12,000 litres of production water if it's a 10 inch filter, twice this if it's a 20 inch filter.

Do you mean with production water, the amount of pure water, or the amount of water passing through the filters?

Doesn't that depend on the hardness of the water as well? If it would be 500 TDS, then it could be halved right?

As its function is to remove the chlorine, this will not be overly affected by the water hardness.
