Please take this as constructive criticism.

The speed of the Cleanitup site is abysmal. I know that this subject has been raised before but it does not appear to be improving. I have no problems with my computers performance on other forums and I've spoken to other CIU members recently who have all confirmed my experiences.

From memory, the problem started with the change from the YABB software to the current SMF

Are there any signs of improvement on the horizon?

Safe, happy and speedy computing :)

Personally I find the speed of this site comparable to the others but I do have a temporary sign up screen come up for a few moments every time I sign on which is irritating.. It does vanish after a few moments though

It was very slow this morning around 0600 yes I’m sad but worth it!

Also looking at fast track program it’s off to the right if you know what I mean.

Derek,

Your shortcut to the site has probably not been changed since the new software was installed.

What you need to do is to right-click on the shortcut and from the drop-down menu, select "Properties". Edit the target line to read http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/

That should take you to the site without the sign-up page.

My sign-up page usually displays very quickly. The transfer to the "Home Page" is variable, so is the the link from topic to topic. But sometimes it is excrutiatingly slow. I now keep a game of solitaire on the go to occupy my mind when waiting :D

Safe and happy computing :)

Clearing out your temporary internet files can help.
If your still using Internet explorer (Firefox is much better! http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) go to TOOLS (at top) Internet options then delete your temp internet files.

I've just emptied my temporary internet files and my initial thoughts are WOW ;D  Thanks for that.

How often should this be done? My piece of string isn't very long  ;)

Safe and happy cleaning :)

Ken,

I do it once a week, if you look on that same page "internet options" at the bottom there is a days to keep page history. I switch this to 4. Works for me.

Mark,

I fully agree about Firefox. On my set up it seems much quicker than Internet Explorer.

Ken you could download it  and try it before making it your default browser.

Hi Ken

Please let us know if it seems to slow down again for you - I'm always interested to know how it works for everyone. The main reason for changing from the old software to the new was that Yabb got painfully slow, to the point where several members found it 'unuseable'.

This system is database driven and shouldn't be affected no matter how many members are using it but I'd urge anyone to comment should it start to slown down

Regards

Mike
