Advice/opinions on my new leaflet please
« on: March 17, 2008, 01:13:16 pm »
Please let me know what you think of my new leaflet. I am going to get 25,000 printed up by printcarrier (colour both sides) but thought Id ask for your opinions first. Good or bad please let me know, John.

Mikes right  people like to see who they are dealing with and from where!

And change the background, spot on.

Yep that was my first thought too, it's not easy to read and it's hard enough getting people to read leaflets as it is. Other than that I think it's very good.

As a customer my first few questions would be- is that before and after photo real? and What award did you win?

"For less than you would think......guaranteed  ??? Don''t think you could guarantee that!!

Yep, text hard to read. Last time I saw something that blue it was from Sweden  :).

What have you created it with?

It is eye-catching though

Thanks for the comments guys...

I designed it in Adobe Photoshop

I have darkened the background contrast down a lot so the text does stand out more.

Yes the before and after photo is very real and has not been doctored even though it may look like it has! I took it at an Indian restaurant about a year ago.

I am a little worried about putting my full address on the leaflet what do you think? As for a photo of myself I have kind of run out of space though I think I may attract the housewifes if I did with my adonis good looks  ;) If i got a leaflet through the door I do not think a photo of the guy would make me want to go for him especially - but that is just my opinion

Will have a bit more play about with it I think...

If I were you i'd put a little caption under the before and after perhaps with owners permission. Local businesses with testimonials are real winners.

If you are set on a blue background then i would go for water and make the text black ........... you are called AQUA kleen after all  ;D

People are sceptical of 'award winning' unless you qualify if with picture of award or link to any PR it generated  ;)

Perhaps if the background was paler blue and lettering in black or dark colours it would show up better.

just get rid of the background, it serves no purpose.

put in more text ( you've plenty of room, you can decrease the size of  the text by half) but use attention grabbing typefaces or headlines to pull the reader in.

for the leather cleaning I'd put a headline asking a question  eg;  'is your leather suite more than 1yr old?'

again with the stain guard section, ask a question  "are you worried about accidents spoiling your carpets?"

questions allow the reader to interact with the leaflet :)

HWE means nothing.

Agree with the above.

Address is a must.

Id go with 5k and see what the responce is like before committed to 20k.

John, I agree the background looks terrible. Just realised its a carpet, never seen one that colour. If you need a background go with Chris's idea and use a water ripple or something but have it just visible not in your face.

I very strongly suggest you do not use the image of the wine glass, it has been taken from our website. www.revitaclean.com

I know this as this image was created for ourselves and forms part of our company branding. Please confirm you are not going to use this image.

First rule of producing leaflets make sure you have the right to use the pictures and the text.
Make sure you can back up "award winning" claim

Hi John

The backing is awful, I had to force myself to read the leaflet.

I have always found plenty of text leaflets are better than too many pictures.

Must have an address even if you get an accomodation one.

Prose is full of jargon, the award winning stuff is meaningless unless you specify what award, customers are generally very sceptical of this type of claim.

You need to experiment with what works on smallish print runs.

Sorry to be harsh but I have had over a million leaflets delivered so I do have a pretty good feel for it.

Cheers

Doug

photo nicked of websites don't print well on leaflets, I thinks its about the DPi, and printcarriers will print whatever you send them, even if they know its wrong.

its easy enough to take your own photo of the spilled drink, any thick syrup will sit on the surface of the carpet and if you use a red syrup it will look like wine.

Did you have a pro take that photo Paul? its very good.

Leaflets ok, agree address is a must.

Not sure competitive rates is a good idea, then they want you to be cheap.

after hwe put (steam) in brakets.
