Bought 2 of these the other day and cut them to make 4 as they were to big. First time i used them they were brilliant sucked up the water of the sills. When one got wet i changed it for a new one and put the wet one in the car to dry. Now i have used them for a few days they seem to have lost their sucking power. How often do you guys wash yours, do you only use them once and then wash, when washed are they as good as they originally are. I normally wash my scrims every 2 weeks because i have got quit a few so it might just be a case of buying some more microfibres.

I am full-time trad and seem to have been stuck in the dark ages(change is not good) recently dog eared my 12" blade, what a difference that makes, bought microfibre and i have ditched my bucket but not too sure about that at the moment my mop seems to be full of fairy all the time.

To be honest dude, they're not for sucking water off sills- you need sill cloths for that. they are for buffing the glass dry, an alternative to squeegee'ing- small panes, insides etc. Once they are dirty i wash mine, same with scrims, sill cloths.

To be honest I find that they are better once they have been washed a few times. Its a bit like scrim they get better the more they are used.

I would get a load of them, once I have used (should I say used to use) I washed them, dont hot wash them of they are shagged they melt.

sills cloths terry towles beer mats many use, I personally love scrim for mopping up they beat others hands down once brocken in.

dont use fairy, try gg3 or gg4 4 for hard water 3 for soft not that it makes much difference, takes a little getting used to but trad it is far better than fairy, if you live near bedford I will give you some to try I have loads and about once a month I have to use it now as I am wfp.

I dont agree Tony, fairy is best. I tried gg3 and 4, gave it my best shot but just couldnt get on with it. I know loads of w/c who have found the same. Thing is I have no probs with fairy but its all to their own.

I dont have a problem with fairy by the way, I used it for years, but gg3/4 leaves windows cleaner this is what I found, the slip on it is not no where near as good as fairy.

downside to gg is slip
downside to fairy it attracts dirt and you have to clean more.

Right so with gg3/4 the custy wants it cleaned every 8 weeks and not 5 or 6 weeks.

I agree, gg3/4 is crap on it's own, it doesn't give enough slip.

not at all but makes your job easier IMO, i dont clean 5/6 weeks 4 weeks or 8, and 8 weeks is more £.

I am paid to keep customers windows clean, not clean for 2 weeks a month, just my take on it and no offense meant.

Unger microfibre cloths are very good, but you should never use them to wipe down sills with; in fact the best thing for these are sill cloths which are similar to microfibre cloths only they do hold a lot more water and are good for cleaning anything uPVC.

I've used the same seven microfibre cloths for detailing and cleaning everything PVC, except door steps for nearly six months now with no depreciation in performance and there's still loads of life left in them.

Three of these are the green Unger ones and the others are generic blue ones that I purchased on ebay. The blue ones are slightly coarser and are almost as good as the Unger ones. All I do to maintain them is rinse them at the end of each day in cold water in the washing machine and once in a while wash them with a detergent. If I'd been using scrim they would have fallen apart by now and they wouldn't have done as good a job IMO.

Been using them for well over a year now, they still do the job, but getting older. Less soft etc. Good stuff though really. I cut off all the labels ecxept for two that I use for the sills, easy to see which ones to use. I would use a different cloth now for sills though. Unger microfibre get's really mingy. Need something thicker I think.

Squeegee off if you can't get along without slip, but fairy is for dishes. Have fun with fairy if you ever switch to wfp.
