Anyone else had dealings with these people?
« on: March 05, 2008, 08:14:06 pm »
Been contacted today by an online advertising company. I was just wondering if any of you have been contacted, or are even a customer of theirs?

Company is 'Customer Street' and their website is customerstreet.com

Their package looks pretty good, just wondered what you thought. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks, Simon

If they're that good then why are they beating a path to your (or my) door?
It's a game of three halves!

I see that they are in some way connected with Ufindus. Whilst I haven't heard of customer street until now, Ufindus were really expensive and promised things that they couldn't guarantee. ;D hence we didn't go with them. :)

hi yes im with customer street and i would say stay well away!they charged me £200 to set the website up,then i pay £35 a month to keep it running! u can have a look at it if you want www.templecleaningservices.co.uk.they promised me all sorts, they said looking at the need for cleaning in your area you will be over run with calls,a minimum of ten jobs a week! ive had about 6 enquries and about 2 jobs in the last 4 months.the chap who appointed himself as my acount manager said he would be there 4 me like 24/7 ive never been able to speak to! i can add as many pages and customise it as i wish, but they want alot more more for things like being able to enlarge pictures.Afterwards i realised i could have got a 4 page website set up for a 1 off payment of £200!Cant wait to cancel it!

Probably same reason we go and knock on someone's door to get new customers...  ;)

Helen, you're right they apparently own Ufindus, along with smilelocal, and MoreUK, you are supposed to get a combined package covering all the sites. I just wondered what if any companies you use for internet advertising?

Thanks

Temple, thanks for your reply. I did fear that may be the case. I was told that there had been 186 enquiries for local window cleaners to me. price has gone up since you started with them then, £299 startup, and £59 pm after that!  :o

I had a call a couple of weeks ago from some women.  Sounded like a Lancashire accent but couldn't be certain (are Ufindus based there???).  Anyway, she started off by saying that she had a fair bit of commercial work for me and wanted to know things about my business to see if I was capable of taking it on (my words, not hers but that was the gist of it).  I thought it sounded a bit suss but went along with it up to a point.  Anyway, when the point was reached where I felt she was being a bit too nosey, I asked her for the addresses of the jobs that she wanted me to quote for her (she wanted me to assume she was a facilities manager presumably) and I would be happy to make an arrangement with her to go around the jobs.  That's when the conversation got interesting and the first time she let on that companies phone her company regularly with enquiries (oh yeah - like I hadn't guessed I was being taken for a ride).  My next question was "Oh, so you sell advertising space on the web then?"  Response "Well not exactly".  So I asked her what the name of the company was and it was a name that was unfamiliar to me except that the word "Ufindus" was sneaked into the sentence.  I have heard of Ufindus indulging in certain dubious practises and declined to go any further with the conversation.  It sounds like Ufindus must have a questionable name as they now seem to be trying to conceal it in with another name.
I resisted the temptation to say "Isn't that a company that sells frozen fish fingers?"
