i'v been in the yellow pages this past year, and it's worked quite well for me as when i get a call i then go knocking on all the doors in the area where the person who called lives.

what have been your experiences with yellow pages , and what size add do you have???

None as a window cleaner and that last question is a bit personal don't you think? ;D
It's a game of three halves!

I have been warned more than once from people of all trades that it's a lot of money for not many custies........ so I will never bother with it.. ;)

i have done the yellow pages in the past a box ad which was £400 odd pound and got enquiries from it not many though and they were usually where i didn't clean.

I ended up with no work from it.
I have the free 1 liner in there but would never pay for a yellow pages ad again.

In my previous window cleaning career I just changed my private house BT line to a business line. I paid a very little bit more every quarter but I got a free single line entry in yellow pages and also the business phone book.

I got asked to do a quote for a Gas showroom and a Meb showroom and in the end got 10 Abbey National, 2 Gas, 13 Powerhouse, 10 Coop supermarkets, various banks, building societies etc etc etc, all reasonably local and all from the same cleaning company. This was my main income for about 7 or 8 years.

Also I one day got a call from a Harvester who were desperate. That led to 3 Harvesters fortnightly. These jobs lasted for years as well.

I also picked up a Beefeater Restaurant fortnightly clean which I kept for about 5 years. Plus other jobs I can't remember.

Any of these calls justified the business line. It was from memory only about £5 or £10 extra per quarter.  I don't think u need to spend loads on a big advert in yellow pages.

Get a lot of work from yellow pages, im in 5 directories with just under a half page add in all of them, I am commercial only though and my adds are aimed at commercial, im not too sure how it would work for the domestic market i would think door knocking/leaflets etc would be better, but for commercial in my areas its good.

It has been worth me doing it so far.  Nothing spectacular but an odd enquiry here and there.  A couple of the jobs have been pretty decent ones too.

If you want commercial work, I think yellow pages is essential!

I advertise in most things and to be honest the free adds seem to be the best. I am trying yell.com this year and got a good deal on it but if it dosnt work then I will not bother next year.
