Several people (myself included) have posted on here saying that they have cleaned with various TDS readings going up as high as 20 ppm.

In my short experience I have found that once it leaves 0 ppm it goes up higher quite rapidly (I only have a small Di unit).

I have also found that you are more likely to 'get away with it' where the rinse water 'curtains' down the glass and less likely to 'get away with it' where the water 'beads' on the glass.

I'm looking to get bigger Di units as a result.

Regards

Mike

Yes shook the vessel and it made no difference changed the resin yesterday

By the time i got home checked tds again it was at 35ppm my tap water was at 25ppm so it started to make the water worse
All sorted now though

Typical with purolite, you should have better luck with tulsion. I was the same with purolite, as soon as it hit 001ppm it would shoot right up within a day. i use dowex now, when mine hits 001ppm it'll stay there for a week then very slowley start rising. then i shake the vessel & it's back to 000ppm for a while.

Does shaking the vessel make a difference then?

Mine is at 001 and has been for a couple of weeks. Still deciding which resin to buy and where from. Last lot was from RO-Man. It soes not say which type it is on the side!

Let some water out to make room inside, cap inlet/outlet off with loop of hose or thumbs & shake the whole vessel up/down side to side to mix the resin up inside for about a minute. leave to stand for 5 mins, run a few litres through it & you should be back to 000ppm. ;)

The minute my tds goes above 000 I change it. But I only have a really small di vessel so no probs for me.

macmac and myself do it differently, we both use 2 di vessels inline.  Saves a small fortune on resin as you can use resin til it is completely spent.

it would be a great idea if there was a small inlinebattery  tds meter with an alarm on it, this way we would be warned when the tds got to 1ppm.
found this one http://www.tdsmeter.co.uk/products/pm1.html

What's the best resin to use. I've always used Rohm & Haas but can't find it on the websites.

From my experience it's dowex, although tulsion (DA SERVICES) is also sposed to be good. Get mine from wintecs with free delivery.
