Sorry Wayne, I thought it was you that was going through a lot of water, I should have directed the question at Alan.  What I was meaning is a separate rinse is usually not necessary, and the test I suggested usually is a good way of proving it to yourself.  I have seen a lot of window cleaners wasting a lot of water and time, when it is not needed.

Peter, how do you clean the windows? Do you just scrub the glass from the top down and include your rinse in with the scrub working your way down to the bottom of the glass? Or do you scrub all the glass, then go back to the top and rinse (zig, zag) down the glass as a second wash?

Peter have you got a link to that video clip of you cleaning the windows with your clampless telescopic pole because I can't logon as a member to your site anymore. I assume you scrub the frames first then scrub/rinse the glass in one thorough pass cutting out the need to wash the windows twice so to speak.

I think that pencil jets are much better as you can direct the water accurately to where you want it!

I can't see how you would have more control with a pencil jets though.  Here is one example.  To clean the edge of a frame next to the wall with a pencil jet, you would have to lift the brush off the frame, tilt it inwards to wet the frame, then brush it, and do the same again to rinse it.  Now with a fan spray reaching the ends of the brush, everywhere the brush goes the water is cleaning and rinsing.

It depends on the type of glass, I do it the first way you described on beading glass, and the second way you described on sheeting glass, except instead of the zig zag down the glass, I would just move the brush along the very top back and forth a couple of times.

Try the forum again with your old details, and if not use new details.  I have had quite a few problems with the forum lately, but it should all be sorted out now.

I clean the frame and the glass at the same time.  That video was done to show how the pole works, and not so much how to clean a window.
