Van Signwriting
« on: December 09, 2004, 10:14:41 pm »
Hi Guys

I have just bought a bigger van, only a T reg Transit, but i needed a bigger van!
I had the last one for twelve months, i had the signwriting all over it to advertise my business, but in 12 months i never had anyone ring me from the add on my van. ( I know this, because i moniter where the call's come from)
Now i'm wandering if i should signwrite my new van or not, after all it does tell people what i may have on my van at 3am in the morning, if you catch my drift!!
So, what do you think, sign it up or not?

Ian

Sign writing is a very effective form of advertising, I would strongly advise you to get your new van signed. I get some work from the van as I am sure most people do, certainly would not drive around in a plain van.

An absolute must I would say. Personally I think that any trade with a plain white van as a possible cowboy. By the way, if it was possible, I'd leave it parked in a DIY superstore car park. How many customers are always decorating and having carpets/upholstery cleaned virtually at the same time. I've had lots of enquiries from people who've seen my van when I've been visiting these stores.

Wonder if there's a market for Van sized,  strategically placed, cardboard cut outs!!  would save a long walk back to the Ladies Gym or B&Q to collect your Van at the end of each day.

Just joking.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Sadly most vans broken into are builders one, hand tools and drills etc. Plain van COULD have good bits for robbers but how many want spot cleaners and vacuums???
Good classy sign writing will pay for itself straight away, avoid cheaper DIY options.
Even if you do not get calls from sightings, it will help you when you turn up for any surveys/estimates.

One thing (most important !) is that a signed van is an "identity" to some , especially old clients, its an assurance of who they are about to let enter their home.
It obviously promotes a more secure client/operator base from which to go from, we are as an industry a in-home industry annd not the "tarmac lads" so to speak.
And yes well thought out sign written vans do create business.

Hi everyone

Well i think that decides it, based on the fact that it has been an overwhelming majority by you guys!!
And i must say,  looking at my old van now, it doesnt stand out from the crowd!!
I think some strong bullet points on there will make all the difference.

Thanks for your input.

Drive around in Streatham, where Len was and you won't have bullet points along side of van, you could end up with BULLET HOLES  :o
I make a 3 mile detour around the lovely SW16.  ;)

They knew I was coming bit like the Tony bell vans, did wear dark glasses though, and was a bit of my old stomping ground, ice ring always on the pull!
