it may be in the title, but when they come and fit new windows, they fit more than just the glass!!!. we are window cleaners so we clean the whole window including the tops, if we were glazing cleaners we would do just the glass. As already said its in the title

yeh, just run the brush straight over from side to side, never had a problem yet. We tend to squeegee the bottoms for the first couple of washes just to make sure, but thats about it

Its industry standard practise to clean the top of the frame and I agree we are not glass cleaners! we are window cleaners  ;)

And how close is close to the top of the frame before it gets splashed, you just give your self a lot of problems when NOT cleaning the top of the frame

we clean the WHOLE frame. Right up to the soffits and down each edge by the brickwork. I just cant see the point not to, all your doing ( in my view ) is making work for yourself making sure that you dont get the frames

Once that top frame has had its first clean, then regular cleans they just need seconds to wipe over, and not only that your giving a better service, which helps with recommendations (think you spell it like that)

Mostly, but it definately depends on the job.
Could cause more problems than it solves sometimes.

Always for me too. I think there is too much scope for spotting otherwise. I'm not accurate enough to get away with glass only. Watch your brush on the up stroke - it flicks the bristles and sends water droplets onto the top frame. I know some get away with it but i can't see the point.

there are car washers and car valeters.... the valeters charge more for the same job. Me i'm a window valeter......frames and sills included, makes no difference if I use wfp or ladder.

If you use wfp you should clean the frames IMO. That's a fantastic plus for the customer. Trad will charge extra, wfp not. One reason for them (even if it occasionally spots) to stick with you. You deliver the most complete service.

It really looks nice with shiny white frames. When you look at a window, and the frames are dirty, even if it's just the tops, it really ruins the whole picture.

Then you have to charge more for doing this. When our window cleaner does ours I can look out and see clear glass - I don't give a monkey what the plastics like. I wouldn't pay more to have the plastic cleaned, anymore more than if the guy cleaned the stone cladding.

This is ok for the bottoms but the tops under the eves its so dark you can't see the dirt from the dark area so why bother?

do the frames for two reasons.

1/  You can go at the window like a bull in a china shop cos it dont matter where the water goes your gonna clean it anyway

2/ A good sales point. " all frames cleaned at no extra cost". If your getting something for nothing, all the better
