im very annoid with the APWC, i tried to join in mid jan i think sent all the info my passport pics and my photo copy on my insurance and ipaf  and safe contractor cert ect.

Got an email saying my insrance was due to run out on the 3 of feb so they will wait till i renew (but why?? i hAVE INSURANCE AND IF I DONT REKNEW MY MEMBERSHIP WILL BE VOID??) any way i thought its only a week.

i renewed and them emailed my new insurance docs, then i get a response saying the person i emailed was no longer the admin person and the job had changed hands but all the info had been passed over to the right man!!

so i left it about two weeks with out reply , so i emailed the person i was told was in charge of admin to be get a response aying who had given me is email and its not is job ect ect but he will have  a look for me.
well im thinking soon i will be a memeber well no chance got a email saying the application had out of date insurance(which is bull) so there waiting for my new insurance(which is bull) and hes away this week so will sort it next WTF!!!!!!

Im sorry but is this the way the APWC wabts to come accross cause if it is i dont want to be a memeber!!

I am not anti the APWC but I would be interested to know what you are going to gain from joining. Not the blurb that you are told by them will benefit you but what YOU will get for your money.

You seem to be doing alright from seeing your posts and also from our chat at the end of last year

Ronnie,
Put your money somewhere else, pains me to say the Fed or better still FSB, but this situation was a long time coming.
Those of us who had the 'get up and do something attitude' were stiffled in submission. Since then I have sat back and watched it just be run into the ground.
This organisation (APWC) was always going to be the one to keep the Fed on it's toes, but now that has zero competition we can all sit back and watch that disappear down the pan too.

Yes. Started up as a real challenge to the Federation of Age Old Window Cleaners. Didn't take long before some at APWC decided to follow the same route.
I put a lot of time, effort and own money into it for.....nothing in the end.

Hoping to get to Windex but we are starting work down near Stevenage round about the same time. If I go I will get your phone number and we can meet up.

Neil

What happened with the APWC then - from the very very beginning it was plagued by infighting and was never given the opportunity it deserved. People were too quick to shoot it down

Certain people already run it into the ground, we have gone through hell trying to pull it back.
Trouble was we had to many mouthy people who always went off on a tangent on personal vendettas etc. not to mention  paranoia about the Fed, Ionics and every thing else for that matter and not to mention all the embarrassment caused on forums by certain committee members.

Myself and Wayne Voller who incidently is one of the nicest blokes you could ever meet have worked tirelessly over the last couple of months trying to undo all the damage done by PREVIOUS committee members.

Dont you dare say Me and Wayne have run things into the ground, the damage was already done FACT

Everyone in the industry knows who the good guys are.

Dave

I came down to the very first meeting for the APWC and hoped that a determined organisation was going to be formed from the 1st day.

I believe that it started off with the right intentions, maybe I am naive, but I believed that everyone wanted the same thing - a shining example of a trade focused organisation that was forward thinking and held the industry and its membership as the reasoning for its existence.

I knew very early on that it was going to be exceptionally demanding, both in time and money to get it where it needed to be.

I preferred to spend my money and my time on my business and that has proved to be a sound investment.

From the initial launch there were the skeptic brigade that there will always be but it seemed that the APWC was an easy target that quite a few felt was fair game for any amount of slagging off and criticism and they found any reason to voice themselves.

Some people on here even now would have been better to support the proposals rather than using their energy to shoot it down in pieces and to just wait and see what might come of the new association.

Unfortunately the forums have given us an attitude of I want it now and I have a right to know, there is also the attitude of advice - anyone can come on here and with no background or credence claim to have the answers. Often to situations or circumstances that can be quite technical or legal and rightly so we are all entitled to our opinions.

Time and time again over the years I have been a member on here and the other forum I have seen advice that is just plain wrong and I have watched the bitching that goes with it.

I for one hope that the APWC succeeds - people like yourself David deserve a medal for sticking with it and trying to create something that will give the industry a voice and the credence it deserves.

The APWC is not for me - I am an individual who is determined to succeed but I can see that there are many on here and further afield that would gain immensely from the right industry organisation and it is not a case of maybe they would join if it was tidied up but they really want to join because they will be part of a bigger thing and they will have the security of that but it is not tidy whilst we are reading things like this.

If I can give you any advice - Please don't air your dirty laundry on the forum  - it does no one any favours.

I genuinely hope that you can turn it round and I wish you every success for the future.

I can remember that first meeting, and you did the sensible thing and persued your own intrests  ;D. I can still remember your portfolio you show your customers, very inspiring

I am now the only original committee member left from that first meeting, believe me I have some stories to tell, but i will save that for my book lol.

You are right i do need a medal, it has been like walking through a mine field with snipers constantly firing over the top, good job i have thick skin.

I have put up with loads of threats, been abused, been shot at more times than i can remember.

Everybodys nice to my face though, funny that isnt it  ;D

When it looks like your fighting a battle that is constantly uphill and there doesn't seem to be many on your side there wil be a few individuals watching closely and willing the momentum forward.

I will say again you have more support than you are probably aware

Keep taking it forward
