Hi all,

had a call today from a long time customer who has carpet moths ! I normally steer well clear of this sort of thing, but was wondering if there was anything effective i could do to help!

They have had a quote from rentokill for well over a £1000 

Not sure how bad the problem is yet, but i know they would want me to have a go if there was any possibility of helping!

any thoughts ?

Ultra Fresh by Chemspec is is not listed as a pesticide but can be used in same way at a fraction of the cost. Speak to Richard (or Keith at direct) and I'm sure they will tell you more but it's a simple spray application (needs to be fogged into any infected suites).

The reason it's not listed is because it costs Manf. alot to do it. This stuff comes in 100ml botlles for about £3 each and dilutes into 10 litres of water. Used it on a flea infection and it worked (and I sprayed all surfaces inc hard).

I charged £180 (used 2 100ml bottles on a 2 u 2 down) on top of the £180 I charged for the carpet clean. The application took about 20 minutes. I would still speak to Chemspec about use on this particular problem as I am basing on the job I used it for. Not sure if these infect other areas so would pursue that line before doing what I did alone.

Richard knows his stuff and told me exactly what to do so would put a call in if I were you.

As for pricing, you can't really lose if walletokill have quoted £1k you are onto a winner all day but need some knowledge that you can convey to customer. Richard can advise you on this.

I used that stuff and custy (property they rented out) has informed me that the problem came back quite quickly.
Sorry but if you want the job doing properly then get some real 'kill it' stuf.

Just so you know Steve, this is no green product. property needs to be vacant at application. Dwell time (not long but check) followed by complete airing for a good hour or two. As Spencer says though, its a good earner.

 i will phone them tommorrow, thought i would order some ultra fresh anyhow, just realized they only 30ml, so wil have to get a few more. (its a four bedroom house,  quite big, a doctors house!)

I think they would rather me have a go before shelling out big time to rentokill, but i will tell them there is no guarantee.

Its worthwhile going on the internet and reading up on the moths life cycle , where found etc. It puts you in a better position to deal with them. You can get sachets of insecticide from Stapro-Bio productions or a safer product but more expensive is No-insect as has been mentioned. Follow instructions closely especially if its pernethrin based with regards to disposal.
