anyone use the mono rect vikan brush if so what do you think to them just bought one from changing it from the old ionics duel trim crinkled mono but i just dont know what to think of the vikan as yet anyone use it your comments please

how can they say too heavy i cannot tell the difference whats a few grams and i am like mr muscells

Its not ideal by far but its tough, duarable and does a good job. I like them. But hopefully the new Gardiners brush will replace them! Luke

Bentleys are a bit pricey £1.44 in Asda today, still at least you get a handle chucked in at that price. Extortionate!

for example

I have the UNGER xtel pole and use a green Rectangular brush a copy of vikin but havent got a clue what all these Mono-Filament things mean.

mono filament are single bristles from the base to the tip of the brush, the other type are flocked, where the tips of the bristles are king of split up, causing a denser spread of bristles     
if that makes sense. the unger brush is a flocked brush head, its a vikan brush, with green bristles and an unger logo.

which means monofilament brush heads are less prone to trapping dirt and are therefore better for rinsing on glass

true, but do they cover the glass more thoroughly? personally i always rinse with the brush off the pane.

no idea i use flocked vikans and rinse off i just thought id put that bit on before anyone else i  think the rinse on thing is of use to any one working above second floor but i dont do anything higher than that.......yet

Dave, your brush is a Vikan with the Unger name on it. The Mono version ( vikan ) is very similar but with slightly longer bristles and no flocking ( straight individual bristles ) Luke

I've used one for knocking on a year now, great brush although a little stiff to start with. i use it tops & bottoms & haven't used anything else since i put it on.

(getting a bit bored of saying this now but-) as with any rectangular vikan they are much better to use if you trim all the excess black plastic stock from them (around the edges). it makes the whole head smaller & a wee bit lighter. fit a "pinned" MKII swivel & you'll have an excellent set up for almost any situation.

Whats the quickest way to trim the excess black plastic from the mono vikan? hacksaw? stanley knife? Hopefully it will stop me from leaving black lines on white plastic patio door steps (used to get red marks when i used the oval.....yes i know.... need to be more careful).
