or does everyone seem to enjoy window cleaning on this site?? It was the best move i made getting into it..iv read few or no threads of people not enjoying window cleaning..i have hated everyother job ive had...mad and pointless thread but hey there you go....

The only job where i don't have an alarm clock to get me up, don't have to clock in, can't get dragged into the office, don't have to put up with a work partner, only pay two pound something n.i., possible tax benefits, days off when i like, work only for the people i like (eventually), no nightshifts, no lateshifts, fresh air, sun on my back, meeting people, taking my daughter to school, drive where i want, fabulous countryside somedays can't get made redundant, can't get entirely sacked. Yes i enjoy it.
Downsides  : rain, some rude customers, animal poo and not much else really.

You just have a good area and i should know 

It has its moments though when the weathers crap and you think i must find another job.
But these moments are not that often.

Then you look at the other jobs and see what the wages are the you think window cleaning is the best job in the world.

Its hard work building a round but once your established your laughing.

me too 2 years ago i got to a point where i closed the books and stopped taking new custs(had a waiting list for a while....one out one in) now cos of pole i want more custs and phone has stopped ringing ....do you think its okay to "reposess"work you gave to newbies to start em up

The way I see it, it is all about 'personal empowerment'  I work when I want to, for as long as I want to and earn as much as I need to.  Window cleaning is surely the best business to be in...low investment, and repeat business.

i love and hate these threads just finished a 10 hour day in retail when yesterday i was in the sunshine happy as larry,some  one said on here " it,s more like a hobby which made me chuckle.......got three big weeks of canvassing ahead of me to try and get nearer to my goal of been full time!

I'm the same age as you, and devoting every available bit of time I have to establish my round. It IS hard work, but the light is there at the end of the tunnel.

For me  - my goal is build my round to allow me to work a 4 day week, and earn enough to allow me to be comfortable.

You need to make sure you look after your customers as they are your life blood, especially if you live in a rural area like us and where your name becomes recognised.

I have just taken a lad on 3 weeks ago (No 11), primarily for carpet cleaning but he has also been doing a bit of window cleaning and other stuff, he tells me daily that he "loves this job", every day is different, he is out and about all over the county, there is very little pressure on him and they get paid for what they do.

i'm a country boy but unfortunately living in town now. But i work in the countryside and it is a pleasure being outside amongst fields and fresh air. I love working in the rural locations and i still feel grateful everyday that i have the chance to do this and get paid pretty well for the privilege too.
The effect of this job on my general health is a godsend. Sleep well, eat well and have had 1 cold in 4 years. Never lost a day due to sickness.

I'm not going to repeat all the stuff above but its all true. For many years I was a manager working for Kodak before being made redundant.

Big Companies when they have you by the balls and they know it they are merciless. Never again will anyone have me like that again.

Some days i really hate this job but after coming on here and reading about others i feel i am no longer 'alone' and now after becoming close to quitting i actually enjoy being out and about and the relative freedom that i get from being self employed and lately i have had an upturn in fortunes so days are even better
