Just did a big job yesterday, customer had his empty town house on the market, he'd had a few viewings, then last week someone had "let themselves in" through the back door and removed 2 very large victorian fireplaces from the bedrooms. Police think it was one of the viewers, who had unlatched the back door, as there was no sign of a break in.
Needless to say they didn't take much care trying not to make a mess!! There was big piles of soot all around where the fireplaces had been and then trails of soot and debris all the way down the stairs and out the door.
We cleaned and sealed off both chimney breasts, dry vacced everywhere, then dry vacced again, presprayed with Blitz and extracted with clean water. Finally, went over a couple of minor spots with Filter Out, which I'd just got from John.
Job done and customer was delighted, or as delighted as he could be considering the estate agent had told him that losing the fireplaces would knock £10K+ off the value of the house!
