somehow water has got into the switch on my backpack, the backpack was working and then would run for 10 sec and then cut out, but it wasn't a batt problem, they was all fully charged, anyways took it how, decided to take it apart to see if there was anything look, took out 2 screw removed black plate, and then removed the power switch,

when i connected it all up again, it just goes strait to setting 4, only way it stops is if i disconnect, i tried pressing it lightly (that has worked for some people), i have dried it with hair dryer, hot air blower and even wd40, it still doesn't want to respond,

what shall i do, can i make a switch anyway? is there a voltage limit switch that anyone knows of?

What can i do need it for tomorrow, i don't think y batteries can take a full day on setting 4 do you?

I am experiencing problems with similar backpack ( mine switches on whenever it feels like it ).  I have been told I need a new circuit board.

Try contacting the manufacturers direct, they will have a service department that should help you.

You can by-pass the circuit board, but your backpack will be running at setting 4 speed all the time.

I had to buy a new PCB last year, £50 odd from Cleantech. I did intend to use a funnel for filling, but went back to my bad habits. When you fill from full containers loads of water goes down the back and into the works. Dai

These boards are very well covered with a heavy coat of resin so makes them nice and water proof, however I have seen some of the components used in them and we could buy better quality components from Maplins, also the supplier refuses to give us a guarantee with the back pack as they say there not built for the use we give them. in other words because we use them say more than a council guy for spraying weeds, there not built to do our Jobs.

Its about time these companies either stopped selling them to us or gave us a guarantee, I have never had a problem with them taking my money.

pff i think i will just be doing without ,

went out a bought a new 110a leisure battery for tomorrow, and will just use the pump from backpack, temp fix until new stuff comes,

i know jeff it is a joke, i don't even know why it went, i was was working fine ish, unscrewed the screws, and it was broke,

you can stick an odinary 12v car switch in-line and run it at full speed, if it helps to get you out of the poop?

Mate, surely that is fair enough?

How can they "stop selling them to us", they cant give out a questionnaire with every order and if your a window cleaner cancel it can they?  I'm sure we'd all be complaining if they did.

They aren't intended for window cleaning, end of.

If you used a pair of pliers to bang nails in, you wouldnt then complain to the plier company that they had bust and they shouldnt  be selling them to you, would you?  They'd say "er, they're not meant for banging nails in with mate"

£50 quid is nothing in terms of window cleaning overheads, if you have to buy a new circuit board every 4 months, then just count that as a consumable.  How much cash will it have earned you in that time?  Loads.

I don't use my backpack all the time, it's mainly for stand alone jobs and I don't have many.
A guy using one for full time spraying would work it a lot harder than me. Of course he will be a lot more careful filling it, as chemicals are a lot more expensive than DI water. I suggest if your filling backpacks out of 25 litre containers, use some kind of large funnel to stop all that water sploshing over the back and into the works. Dai

That's a bad analogy. If you bought the pliers from a 'nail banger in' shop then you would have the same situation. Window cleaning suppliers cannot supply them ready for window cleaning and then step back and say 'not covered mate' when it goes wrong. If I bought it from Screwfix then yes, from specifically a window cleaning supplier then no, they cannot back out of the guarantee. I for one would have no problem slapping them with a small claims case and let the judge decide.

Council guy's around by me use them all day with weed killer and other chemicals, but they still have a guarantee with it at the end of the day , so why can't we?
That would be like buying new rubbers and the manufacturers saying we can't guarantee there going to work all day so we are withdrawing the guarantee?

Aaah, fair point mate.

I thought you were ordering them from dualpumps or something, but if from a window cleaning supplier then yes they should stand by the product.

i wont be buying a switch, i bought a new pump, battery and charger yesterday, pump on line so should be coming later, but the battery got me out of a tight situation, my little 7.2a ones would have never lasted all day with the pump going flat out,

I have emailed you the instructions for the backpack exstension switch that I have built and fitted to mine, Joeuk45 also has one,  we have used them for some months now with no problems.

dont know if its any use, but my son and me go shooting, and on hid pigeon thingy he's got a 12v speed controller. To me its just like a dimmer switch, but it works great, turns it right off and cost him £20.00 of ebay
