I tell my customers that at my prices I need to work every day just to make a living, and if I charged them what some other cleaners charge, I could afford to take 3 months off in the winter. Dai

I use that excuse along with many others according to what winge /comment the customer makes. I view window cleaning in the rain like this: So long as it's not belting down, I'm out window cleaning. Sure I get moans, so what. I have a tough skin and accept people don't like it but they can't complain because i clean the windows properly. Every now and then I'll lose a couple, but for the few I lose and the wage I've earnt I'm not bothered. I'd rather earn a regular wage and lose a few customers than sit on my backside worrying when it's going to stop raining ' cause I'm skint and all the bills are coming in.
After a while you hear all the different comments about working in the rain from your customers and you've got an answer off the top of your head to respond quickly but light hearted, possibly humourous. Train your customers to expect you and you're laughing instead of beating yourself up worrying /fearing what the customer may think. ;D

a bit harsh on yourself there

i guess you must need to work, dont make you a idiot though

I enjoyed your reply Matt.
Just because someone disagrees, it doesn't mean they need to be disagreeable about it.
Shiner I agree with your comments- the reason I made mine is that Matt has made several peronal attacks on me lately. The main difference between me and Matt and D salkfield seems that I try to operate like, and make comments about, this as a business and not as a job.
I have never mentioned earning £600 a day.I often chip in, but don't feel the need to enter into arguments, or assert that I am right. I don't do bragging, gloating, or self justification either.

My main obsessions (and what I tend to post on or about) are hot systems, and business procedures. I find other peoples opinions usefull even when they don't agree with my own, and Matt whatever his other shortcomings very often does have some helpfull practical advice

I have lost 0 days in nearly 1 year of window cleaning, 4 months of which are wfp, thats 2 winters. I lost 2 hours because of frozen pipes but next winter I will have hot water. Luke

OK.  I hadn't noticed any personal attacks on you Mr S.  I didn't realise it was retaliation so it did look uncalled for at face value.  I wasn't aware there was a bit of history to it.

i would love to know what these personal attacks are also

it does seem mr S is ok at making snidey remarks and cheap shots at people, but also has a complex that people are making them at him

** on a note, the only post i can think of that might have been a "personal attack" was this thread

I add interest and value to a thread because of my intellect and the fact that I stimulate other people into responding

its only the 1st of jan and we allready have a contender for the funniest post of the year

well done

for the record, i work as a window cleaner, its my job, im also my own boss, yes, thus i choose the hours i work,  fairly simple really

It`s not intellect that makes people respond,it`s the fact that his comments sometimes arn`t constructive and wind people up lol. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
