« on: January 18, 2008, 12:01:04 pm »
hi guys this week end im going to compose a letter telling customers i will be working in the rain and give the work a guarantee similar to what has been said on previous posts, any customers who wishes  to opt out i shall be charging 50% more on their next clean , is a letter the best way or to do it in person when i turn up?

Will you like if they say " I want a 50% discount because you didn't turn up after 4 weeks to clean my windows as you are late?"
I would never charge extra...you will loose work..be carefull on the extra charge!

I'd just say that they if they choose to stop you cleaning in the rain, you won't be able to return until the next scheduled clean. Most ppl would rather have their windows cleaned in the rain than wait an extra 4 or 6 weeks to see you again.
I think the 50% extra would loose you custies and put quite a negative slant on your working in the rain,.. instead of the positive "my window cleaner does everything possible to make sure my windows are cleaned regularly".

I’ve been a bit apprehensive about cleaning windows in the rain but this week we haven’t really had any choice so I’ve cracked on with them. I do state that I offer a rain Guarantee and will re clean any effected window. But the real surprise this week is the amount of people who have opened the door and commented “oooh, you looked soaked love would like a cup of tea” or “ It’s lousy weather for you isn’t it”

Basically I don’t believe the majority of customers care if it’s raining. Before I started Window Cleaning I never battered an eyelid when my old window cleaner used to clean in the rain.
If a customer does complain I reckon it would be the type who would complain about the slightest thing.

Just a brief explanation that you offer a year round service and any problems you will call back and sort it out.

I definitely wouldn’t charge extra.
