What are you looking for in rug cleaning
« on: January 17, 2008, 06:18:32 pm »
Ok we all clean rugs, Ive just picked up another hand knotted cream wool rug with a tea stain the size of a dinner plate, I did one last week ( Dave you saw it) that had 4 small coffee stains in it that the customer had attacked with vanish  :o, after cleaning the rug it looks great but the tannin stains are still visible, but with a little chemical knowledge, the stains are now completley gone and a happy customer. The one I just picked up today is going to be a little trickier, but still confident it will look right.

I know some guys struggle with staining in soft wool rugs and it got me thinking.

If Dave LIahona was going to do a rug demo day what would be the things people would want to see and learn about.

I'd be keen to know how to use the submersion method and more specifically how to get them dry without alot of expensive equipment and no large lock up area.

How to identify a rug that bleeds like a haemophiliac.

OK with a lot of rugs they will bleed but this doesn't matter because the loose dyes just run off which in fact is a benefit of saturation  cleaning.

I got caught out with my first saturation clean, 4 hrs later it was still bleeding but as it had gone dark so I couldn't see it!

Other than that how to search out quality rugs and get the business.

Paul

I think its a great idea what your doing and although i agree with whats been suggested it may need a two day event for all this!  Stain removal esp on man made wool rugs and chinese super wash style and immersion cleaning how to and pitfalls.

Having said that Im prepared to fly over from Belfast so put me down on your list as a definate and let me know the details.

thanks
Mark
