big graffiti job...
« on: January 16, 2008, 05:22:24 pm »
hi everyone,
I have just been asked to price a big graffiti job. It will take about 4 or 5 days to do. The problem is, i have never quoted for a job this big. I'm affraid to go in too high, but i dont want to go in too low.

Like i said, it should take about four/ five days, but you dont know for sure until you start doing it do you. I have to think about all the chemicals Im going to use too.

I dont want to charge a normal days rate, as it may take a bit longer.
Any idea how much i should charge?... (and can we talk figure please)

Thank you.

whats your normal day rate?

do you need the work? me not having a clue but pricing it on what i could earn window cleaning and in one place, i reckon 1500-1800 inc chemicals and that stuff,

could you go wrong with that?

thats what i had in mind, £1500 that is.
Theres going to be two of us on the job. so i need to pay out £100 a day on wages to get someone that knows what they are doing.
Cheers Alex. :)

Anyone else? :)

The first thing I'd do is take a photo and email your chemical supplier and ask them :-
How much chemical you are likely to need given the surface and the paint type etc
How long they recon it should take
How much they would charge as most graffiti chemical manufacturers are contractors themselves

a lot of firms on large contracts charge by the square metre, by this i mean if a square metre has one tag on then it is priced at the same rate as having four or five tags on,but areas with no graffitti not charged for at all.
as mentioned in earlier post it is always a good idea to take before and after pictures of graffiti removal this way you can justify the area you have cleaned all results can be seen and also you dont get blame for any damage to structure that was there before you started.
as a price guide a lot of firms charge between £8 and £10 a square metre i hope this helps and if you need any more info  on chemicals etc then please feel free to email me.

i'm going to use a spinner/turbo lance.

As for taking photos, the problem is, i cant take photos because if i do, i will need to post about 25/30 photos on here, which isn't really practical.

I went to have another look tonight. i think it will take more like 5 days to do now.

I only want this job if it is worth doing if you know what i mean. So i might charge more than i would get usually, and if i get it great. if not, so be it.

i dont think you should look at work "thinking i need this" because if they hadn't asked you, you would be none the wiser,

your going to be working all day non stop by the sounds of it, stick in a good price, 5 days on your own £1500, that surly accounts for any mishaps

You need to take into account the price of materials, some removers are expensive

turbo nozzles are not good for most graffitti as they can cause to much damage to a lot of surfaces the best approach is use the correct chemical for the surface being cleaned, on some smooth surfaces you will find graffiti wipes are the best approach.
on stone or brick use a graffiti gel and wash off with a pressure washer at a medium pressure prefferably hot water, any areas that still show slightly clean again with a graffitti ghost remover.
turbo nozzles do have there use but shouldnt be the main approach to graffitti removal.

thanks for that reply trever... my earlier post was based on what i saw on the mosmatic website where they demonstrate a vacuum recovery wall floater stripping graffitti.
