ive cleaned this pure wool rug it has been infront of a coal fire so was very dirty used "one clean" im going to give it another go ive thourghly hoovered it including the back. it looked clean at first but slowly came dirty again. i presume this is the coal dust left in the pile ... what else can i do or use

Bill, how did you clean it?  When I know this I might be able to help.

 If it was coal dust in the fibre then vacing it may well have made it worse.  You could have beaten it farther into the pile as opposed to removing it from the same.

 If you have used heat at all then it might not all come out as you may have "bonded" it to the yarn.  Other than that as it is pure wool then just flood it and you should be able to restore it.

what i did was turned it upside down gave it a good hoovering that beet a lot of dust onto the floor then i turned it right way up then used a george on my hands and knees and sucked as much as possible out of the  pile then i used one clean with warm water not hot ... you mentioned flood it do you meen with a hose .. would this be ok with wool..

Flood, yes with a hose.  It being wool should be flooded to clean it properly anyway.

I wouldnt ever vac the way you have suggested but I know a lot of people do again each to their own. 

By doing it the way you did would have ground in what was loose soil into the face fibre.

As  you were dealing with extra fine particles this would have been a no no.

If there is a next time beating it over a clothes line would have a better result.

P.S.   I cant comment on one clean as I dont know what it is.  If its for wool then it will be fine..............

ive jsut finished it now, its not to bad a lot better than it was .

 ive just finished another one wich was in her daughters bed room.
 it has no label on the back its not that old and she says it looks like wool but it is a very very long pile
ive used one clean again but the pile is about 4 or 5 inches long i need to wait till day time to see how clean ive got it .i was wondering could i soak it in the bath with one clean then extract or is it to dodgy
