It all depends on how much you want to spend

i bought a 45ft pole from stream poles sold through ebay, not really but slightly recommended, its cheapish but its good its just heavy to lift from about fully extended, and flexes allot - i hate the clamps too - their just glorified jubilee clips,  you can see them on ebay under water fed pole - the silver alluminium ones-
yes they are good, but flex too much if you ask me, and too heavy - and that wasnt even fully extended.
so dont buy one of those or do if you want, dress up as a fruit your choice.

I use a carbon xcel universal (the old type), stay well clear of them mate, I have it nearly 3 years and seems to be lasting ok but will probably go for a facelift/s2/cobra in the near future.

the only one of those I have held is the cobra and it was really nice, reasonably light but superb build quality, but I want to have a nosy at some other poles first.

like I said don't be tempted to go for the cheaper universal carbon, a job at that height should be paying well enough to warrant buying a better pole.

I don't much like the predator either but the cobra is the business and things have changed round there, sean rimmer has left and I think some others have too.  I have an ecolite (brilliant but don't make them anymore), wouldn't mind having a look at the prolong.

30ft predator? they only make them to 25ft as far as I know.

at 40ft no matter what you buy is gonna cost big notes, what about an xtel carbon 45ft 579+vat but you can't take it apart unless you snap the end-stops.

if you want to stay telescopic then prob the facelift will be the best option, you can take it apart, quite light and strong too.

go on, get a 45ft universal!!

rhys I've been looking into this and unfortunately there is no way around it, you pay for what you get I don't think a cheap pole at 45ft is ever going to be an investment.  My universal was the only thing available at the time so I had to make do but now I think its time to start looking at something like an E2 or facelift or cobra.

Doing work at 40-50ft is hard work, maybe consider one of the new light weights like an S2 or Ultralite.

what exactly is the s2 (I assume its the superlight 2) from gardiners, and what advantages does it hold over say, the emporium pole?

They are both developed from the fishing pole concept of modular poles- not telescopic, but the advantages are that they are incredibly light, stiff and a joy to use.

24ft Hybrid is an excellent pole or we have a new 25ft Carbon Fibre pole coming out end of the month (SL-X).
