I got my pole from PF they used a supplier will take a look in a bit but 24ft pole four section and I can do 3 story town houses also when collapsed right down I use it on the bottoms for georgians and leads bit awkward but less than taking out sections unless you get a wee small pole for the bottoms

Most of my work is within walking distance but barrels last between 2-3 houses
but mostly I only do tops

Can you take sections off though and use 3 instead of 4?

How does this cut off valve work? Do you manualy have to switch it off and if so then whats the point when you can do that with the viastream controller?

There's not a lot wrong with the old universal pole like you have shown from WCW. They are decent workaday poles at good prices.

OK you can spend a lot more on poles and of course they will be a bit better but up to 3rd floor they are fine.

In answer to your question about the height at which you can actually work it's anywhere between the completely collapsed length and max extended length. The Universal standard section length is 6ft so say with a 24ft one the minimum length will be just over 6ft and the max length will be 24ft. No you can't easily remove sections.

I hope this helps you.

it is a little tap that you put on your pole just switch it off in between windows saves a hell of a lot on water too.
It does not stress the motor from what i can tell. will let you know in the summer after 6 months  :)

But I am trying to be good and switch the pump off after I have done the tops or walking round to the backs of the hous from the front.

like I say I have noticed it on saving water on big houses
hope it helps

I looked at the link and it mentions that the valve gets fitted to the hose a metre away from the pole. For me I use a controller and reduce the flow I also always turn it off when going from one side to the other but obviously not from one window to the next if they are next to each other.

Now then Flipper, sorry I mean Matty, NWH is right. I have one of these in my garage roof and that's where it stays. The pole in Jago's photo is an Xtel and that's the one you want, probably 17'.

it is a valve that sits at the bottom of the pole Just flick it to off walk to next window flick back on simple as it is attached to the pole it is easy to use. IMO

Those poles are better off in a museum.

Yeah, they have been around for quite a while and served pro Window Cleaners well for over 10 years - hell of lot stronger than converted fishing poles too!

Some suppliers have been handing out miss-leading advise with these poles now for over 10 years.
False economy, health hazard, the worst possible start to your wfp experience possible, clamps- crap, wear out in no time, H-E-A-V-Y!!!, bendy, absolute rubbish just to put it politlely. museum? even they would reject them! ;)

I wasnt asking what people thought of those poles, whether they should be in a museum or not, how good they were or anything else, I wanted to know how ANY pole is used regarding extension and if they can be taken apart.

So what on earth you think NWH was right about beats me, seems he must have been responding to a thread about suitability of some poles on WCW, why he did that God only knows.

Don' buy those 25 ltr water butts - go to a local food or soft drinks factory they will probably give them to you to save them paying to dump them
