Had a letter through post yesterday from a collection agency actin on bahalf of UFINDUS  askin for nearly £1000 for advertizing with them from 2005 untill now and if i didnt pay within 7 days they will take me too court i couldnt beleive it, so i spoke to too the collection agency and they said i agreed to the cotract with them etc etc i need to pay or im in court, now i know for a fact i did agree to a trial month with them in 2005 but i have never agreed or signed a contract infact i didnt even know i was on there website ect it just seems to like they are trying to rip me off, as if they are going to wait 3 years from 05 for me to make 1st payment etc i think they are trying it on a bit what do you think.

Let them take you to court! They probably wont bother and if they do then you have never signed anything. I have heard they try it on in the past

Couple of things to consider.

1) have you got a copy of the Free Trial Period terms and Conditions as some of these state that after the trial period unless you cancel the agreement it will continue ahead at whatever the rate is etc......

2) As mentioned already, have you signed any paperwork? If the Trial T & C's dont automatically renew then you will need to have signed an order form?

3) Contact them and ask for a signed order from you as your records don't have a copy? If they can't provide you with a clear signed contract them I wouldn't worry too much, explain you agreed a FREE trial but that was it.

can't you ask them to prove that you had signed / agreed to something... wouldn't that shut them up?
thing is with some trial things though you have to stop them - they sometimes run automatically from there, e.g. gym memberships - if you don't cancel after the free month then you're tied in for the year.

I take it as this seems a bit of a shock you weren't receiving monthly or even yearly invoices? If not they have no leg to stand on so just don't worry about it - as Kev says - let them take you to court!

cheers guys im not going to do anythin just yet i will just wait and see what happens and if i get another letter about going to court i will contact UFINDUS as ask for proof of agreement/contract and then take it from there, i know one thing for sure it will have to go too court because im not sending any money anywhere no matter what they say.

they already have been on watch dog AS ANOTHER COMPANY.

also there an on line company there are no contracts to sign so be careful there, find the free trial information as you ll find there'll be terms and condistions.
in there possibly stating that you must cancel the said free trail prior to the month end or youll be put into contract , which is a rolling contract which you must give them three months notice.

so if you get into paying you'll find there come for the other years, get some legal help and get sll information of that free trail.

i advertise with them they are very shrewd read all small print

I had the same a couple of years ago with them.They took over £400 out my bank with out consent,they wanted to update my website etc.I said send me some info and i'll consider it.When stuff came there was a little piece at the bottom of page saying cheers for payment.It took 2 months to get money back.A year later they said i owed 2 years advertising with them at updated website charges of £48 p/m.Told them to go whistle as i cancelled when they took money.Threatened me with allsorts.Asked for evidence and they said i agreed over phone,so i asked for recording of call to be sent to me and never heard anything since.You have to put your feet down with them.

The way to treat all these "free" trial offers is to consider this:  if it's "free" why do they need your bank details?  After the "free" period if you've had good results, of course you'll want to continue, so you'll sign up and pay.  If you haven't had good results, there's no way you'll want to continue, so you just forget about it.

If these people had confidence and belief in their service, they wouldn't need you to sign/give financial details etc in the first instance.  Because they know they're selling a load of s**t they need to get you tied in before you realise it too

there trying 2get me to spend 300 odd pounds or something silly when they have all my company details wrong keep calling me streaky clean for some reason  .

I had the same few years back trying to con me into something i never orderd and pretending to be yellow pages which i was advertising with them but they tried to put across as if it was yellow pages ringing me.

I had them keep phoning and pestering me the begining part of last year, they were becoming a pain in the rear, they won't take no for an answer, so the next time they phoned, I told them I was bankrupt and out of business, never heared a thing since.

Im just gonna wait and see what they do next hopefully i may not hear nothin else off them because i told them on the phone to prove it and they said we will take you too court and i just said go ahead im not paying, so now im just waiting too see what they do next i would imagine they are just going to keep threatning me with court which they can do as much as they like im not paying a penny to them.

I like that.These bastar*s are nothing but rip off merchants trying to con honest ,yet sometimes gullible,people.

They kept hounding me to sign up with them last year..i strung them along...even arranged to meet a rep..then stood him up at the place of meeting!!:)  deliberately i might add.

they are also incredibly rude and nasty on the phone if you dont comply.

Well i wouldnt give my bank details if i was offerd a free trial? i agree with ian there so determind to get your business they ring u all the time they offer u a free trail why should you give any personal banking details?   its not like they carnt remove the advert.

They ring all the time and now iv just had enuf of it tbh if it still doesnt stop il contact there head office or something. They get my company name wrong now when i answer and say hello? they go is that streaky clean? i say no and put the phone down

iv told them time and time again that my name is not streaky clean and they go oh it must b a computer problem but dont change it. IDIOTS
