Cleaning Carpets with Bleach
« on: January 07, 2008, 11:12:20 pm »
Foget Mpower  Micro Splitters etc there is only one way to clean a carpet satisfactory and that is with bleach.

Thats right I was in Allied Carpets today reading the backs for cleaning instructions etc

And that is what it said on this carpet.

Not quite as extreme as I put it but it said you can even clean this carpet with bleach

Steve Saunders spoke about experimenting with bleach about 10 years ago, don't know if it ever happened.

Certain polyprops are bleach resistant but it is foolhardy to suggest using it if only for the residues it may leave behind.

Did a carpet about 4 years ago in a newish house and the owner was telling me you can use bleach on it if you want-the manufacturers say so. - I did decline the offer.

Bleach will sanitise, but is a poor cleaning agent and is obviously hazardous to use.

Polyprop is like a carrot if you slice it in half the colour runs all the way through it and is also basically a plastic. This being the case you can use bleach on it. As Mark has said though bleach is not an effective cleaner and would not really be much use for the cleaning process but would be okay for stains. It is not a practice that i would follow though as i hate the stuff and it hardly gives a professional appearance!
