I have never and will never offer discounts i think the prices i charge are cheap enough without making matters worse but then again i have a full round so no need for new work although the larger residential and commercial work is my goal for this year

If you do get a response, there's a big risk they'll take advantage - have the first (difficult) clean at half price or whatever, then cancel.

I charge more for the first clean anyway so lose 10% of something rather than 0% of nothing, I am in business to make money. you will always get a couple that will take advantage if they do I still make money anyway, I always as if it is regualar clean or not most people are honest or thats the way I look at it.

So you charge up to 25% extra for a first clean, then offer 10% off?

Don't the custies get confused when their "special" first time clean turns out to be more than the ongoing regular price?

no they do not get confused, I am quite good with talking to people, there first clean does cost more but they get a discount if they hand back a flyer with the discount on.

it is not pointless or I would not do it would I ?
we all do things differently  ;)

charge more for the 1st clean as its goin to take a lot longer . say if you normally charge £10 on the type of house charge £18 or £20 for first cleans . 2nd clean charge £15 then 3rd clean reduce to your normal price of £10 . that way the custy thinks they are on to a good thing but you are gettin your rate for the type of house you are doing .
where theres muck theres money

I suppose it depends on someone's finances and how much they need the work.  I usually charge 50% more for a first clean.  In doing so, I am giving a discount really because I go around the job twice in the hope of ensuring the first clean is a good one.  If I charged for the full time that a first clean  takes me, there have been times when double the charge would be more appropriate.  If I feel that someone is going to be a good reliable customer, it's a job I really want, and I sense I may lose it by charging an extra 50%, then I will do the first clean for my standard price.
I suppose it's called capitalism - i.e. charging what you feel the market will bear.
