What's your unique selling proposition?
And how would you describe your leaflets?

I suppose my USP is I give a scheduled day for cleans, take bank payments (i.e do not call for money) and my word is my bond...

As for leafets...black & white and pretty much re-iterate the above really.

1 x set that say the normal "I cleaned in your area..."
1 x set that say "I cleaned your neighbours house today..."

Do you need a unique selling proposition? I believe simple but honest reels them in best of all. If you go all flash you are more likely to turn people off.
They don't expect a window cleaner to have an A5 full colour double sided flier.

Not sure about that Vince, I plan on going after some upmarket domestic and commercial accounts this month, For those I think I would want the quality to have impact.
Sol. Not sure what you mean by "how I would describe my leaflets"

Not sure what you mean how to describe my leaflets...

Do you list benefits, give home phone contact details, do you explain why you are called the electic window cleaner, do you mention how high you go or is this largely irrelivant.

OK on the windows cleaned tickets I like to vary them say 3 times a year to try to get the custy to have another look.

I like to have a personalised one liner. In very small print this time round I have " I live in a small house but my windows look out onto a very big world " many have noticed it.

I mention L.A. H&S Risk assessed " & £5 mill ins.
The unusual web links just to help people remember us www.electricwindowcleaner.com

Bold letters on the top I have Window Cleaning then underneath, Jeff and Chris Brimble ( I work with my wife) then the town name RUTHIN . I feel its important to put the town name so that people dont assume your a cowboy and then I have my home phone number for those that dont want to phone mobiles. I like it to be simple.

On the new proposed up market leaflets I will have some of the more important customers Logos, maybe a staged pic. Because some of the potential new customers may be self employed- the FSB logo.

I quite like the simplicity of Black and white and its cheaper, maybe B&W" glossy, but with the quality of modern print may go full colour- what do others thing about that ?
I wont need that many as I will target the proposed customers.

The sign written vehicle is meant to be and is noticeable and gets me work but I need to target new work in anticipation of the possible drop off from the current downturn.
Hope this helps.

Im trying A6 double full colour this year.

1 side windows, other conservatory cleaning. I think with it being a smaller leaflet and more of a card than paper, the custie will prob notice it more and if of interest, as its smaller keep it on display i.e. on a notice board rather than in a drawer!!

One of the best promo cards I ever produced was double business card size and then folded down the middle, so it had 4 sides of info and a small calendar, Black print on Gold/yellow.  I found that when looking through custys windows they, and my info  stayed around standing up on peoples desks and window cills for months and months.

A full colour both sides glossy a5 costs less than 2p each for 5000 and less than 1.5p for 10,000.If you can take a couple of photo's DP design and print will include these in the leaflet. A 6 cards are even cheaper at £69 for 5000. A4 trifold leaflets come at £210 for 5000. So as you can see to do the job properly doesn't cost much.
I was surpised by the very low number of respondants to this topic, and by a couple of the replies.Particularly that some feel they don't need a unique proposition or do not know what theirs is. I was quite prepared to dish out a few roastings but as the lack of interest is evident i'll let it lie. Thanks to those that did reply and mostly you all had some kind of strategy and there might be a couple of ideas that I could incorporate too.

i prefere to keep it simple, imho they either want a WC'er or they dont, it doesnt matter if you have it on glossy A3 laminated sheets ( though that would be a laugh ) or on a biz card, they read it and either bin it or think " i will call them / him "

im after some plastic biz cards next
