« on: January 04, 2008, 05:54:01 pm »
Hi, my system is unique because i put three connection points on the bumper so you can fill your tank and clean windows with your van locked(no more worrying about your equipment getting stolen).

I make and install all my systems so if you are interested please let me know and i can make you a system to suit your needs.tel: 0870 2245 855

Is that small angle bracket the only fixing for the tank?

Omnipole and several others have been using a small bracket set just below the rear bumper for the outlets for many years now for the same security reasons. It also helps protect the resale value of the vehicle.

It appears that there is just a small bracket bolted to the floor, and the tank is glued to the bracket? no way can that hold the tank. Perhaps it is sufficient for at the back of the tank as the tank would normally slide forward, but tell us there is something holding at the front not just another little bracket?

alex is right, these bumper fixings have been out there for a while, i prefer having the hose reel floor mounted in the back or side of the van, as it would be hassle lifting it in and out of the van. Good to have the fixings there for filling the tank. I would have the hose coming out of a hole somehwere close to the bottom of the van through a hoselock roller feeder or something, so theres less of a trip hazard close to the floor, and you can just pull out how much hose you want.

is the waste from the merlin connected to the top of the tank to recycle it? or is that connected to the bumper?

The fittings on the bumper are not unique, ionic, brodex, omnipole, facelift all fit those and in some cases as standard.

I would be a bit worried about the connectors coming out of the bumper getting damaged from knocks and also how long the bumper would last over time.
Sorry mate, Im not trying to knock you and I salute you for coming up with ideas and posting them.

I have an Ionics pro5 system and I really liked what they did by putting a flap on the side that you can open and all of your connectors are in there. ie You can work when the van is locked up.
I liked it so much that I put another flap next to it for a mains socket (the type you would have for caravans) so I can power an electric radiator for the cold nights.

I wouldn`t sell them if i were you,you will be sued everytime someone stacks there van.The minimum you must do is bolt it to the chassis with heavy duty bolts on each corner of a fabricated frame if upright,a lay flat tank like the one in the pic looks like a 400ltr and would need to be strapped vertically and horizontally and anchored to strapping points in the van as a minimum, not meaning to have a dig at you but selling that setup as it is, is a court case waiting to happen.

There's no bulkhead fitted either. That driver guard rail wouldn't protect the driver from a flying water tank, not to mention poles, etc in a serious crash.
I've been in a large vehicle pile up in thick fog on a motorway. I'd only bought my car less than 24 hours and the back half was smashed/pushed up to just behind the seat I was sitting in. Now I have a real fear of driving in fog because it brings back that tragic day in my thoughts. Safety is Paramount :o

Hi
I agree that the tank needs to be fitted with proper brackets etc. Also on the Partner/Berlingo van a bracket can be fitted to the rear towing eye which will save damaging the bumper. You will also need to use a sealed hose connector on each of those fittings to stop dirt ingress.

IMO I would also remove the ply lining on the floor and Protecta Kote the metal floor base rather than the ply. Water getting under the ply will not dry and will cause premature rot to the floor. Your customers will be back at you for this.

I would also remove the ply on the sides and cut it back a bit at the bottom so water isn't soaked up the sides. I would do the same for the wheel arch boxes.

The in and outlets on the side of the bumper could be a saftey problem with them protruding like that and may cause problems with the MOT  :-\ . Under the rear bumper is safe and out of the way.
IMO, but the matter should be looked into !!

Hi,Thanks for all your input. The tank is secured propely you just cant see the other brackets. I can fit the bumper connections on a seperate bracket  and fit it under the back bumper if requested(the hose you see going into the top of the tank is the pure water). I install all my systems at your home or place of work anywhere in england(I come to you )I would travel further for an extra charge . I am selling the 250L system complete including installation for £2100 and the 500L System for £2250. If anyone is interested please call 0870 2245 855.

Many Thanks

That`s about £1750.00 for fitting it lol,i don`t mean to be rude but you could buy all those bits from cleantech with 4 ratchet straps and fit it yourself, there`s nothing to it.You can buy a box that contains a battery, pump, varistream, with pipe outlets all you need to buy is the hose that goes from tank to box to hosereel.Split charge it for about £15.

Gotta agree with NWH mate, you seem to be yet another cobble-together-and-sell-it-to-window-cleaners-cos-they-dont-know-any-better merchant.

What you have there is a tank, a merlin unit, a DI vessel, pump and battery and some hose (and that all-important dab of glue thats holding the tank in).

That aint a system, its a DIY job.  If you'd done it for yourself for your own window cleaning (I think you are Booysen Pro Cleaning in Catterham?  Googled your phone number), that would be fine.  But now your trying to sell your DIY job as a system for an over-the-top price.

Also, it don't look safe at all

Why do window cleaners continually think they'll make a fast buck by selling diy job "systems".  We're all smarter these days, I dont think you can get away with it now.

For that money your asking look on Essentially Pure`s website, for the kind of money your looking to make that`s what your up against, there systems are bolted to the chassis and most parts are custom made for there systems, you won`t sell any of them on here.

It's a DIY job and a poor one at that sorry mate, poor work on the protecta coat, just did mine, and it looks much better then that, even though it's not plylined nor did I even took the time to remove any leftovers from under the masking tape.

http://www.imgplace.com/image/view/6681735488cb171369dde6e44430cb1b

And you can't see the brackets from this position? Even from that pic you should be able to see them?!  ??? I'm concerned that you just put 3 more angle brackets on there. Even with a 250l tank, your still looking at about 16000Kg in an accident. LOL, as mr. T would say, you' dead fool.

You even put the hosereel bottom support arms the wrong way round.

£1750.00 for fitting? Your joking.

(And I'm not even wfp yet, and I already see those things lol)

@ Spruce

The fill port under the tow eye looks allright, can we get a close up on that one? How did you fit it? Thanks. :)

Is the only advantage having the hose connections on the bumper? because thats hardly a advantage you could do that yourself in no time at all.

I can only see 1 bracket on that tank and even if you had a few more of them around it i doubt it would be safe  :-\

is he having a laugh, is he having a laugh

lets just break it down,

merlin         £250
di vessel                      £30
tank          £115
pump and battery                    £100 ish
hoselock bit      £20 odd
hose reel and hose                   £100
protecta                      £30
pole                                         £100

ok so we’re looking about £750 ish for that setup, and you want £2100  :o

im sorry to dampen your buisness, but that is a con! £1000 fitted for that setup would be fair, as its just a diy job!

around £1500 for fitting! crikey!

anyway, for that sort of money id go to somewhere like pure freedom for less i might haten to add at £1995 and have something that looks superb like this

instead of a home made bodge job for more money! im sorry but you wont get away with them prices, no way no where no how
