I'm not being funny but if I used a portable I'd buy these buckets.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/STAINLESS-STEEL-15-LITRE-BUCKET-COMPLETE-WITH-LID-NEW_W0QQitemZ160194324834QQihZ006QQcategoryZ1267QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
they look very clean & present a professional image. You could put the lid on and it wouldn't slosh about as you carried it through the house to your machine

When I was A porty owner I got four 25 litre plastic drums from a valet center ( empty clear tfr containers ) I used to fill them with water at the start of the day and carry them in my van, they used to last me a full days work most days.
I it looked more professional to turn up at my customrs not needing to use their water or to trapes through their house lots of times with buckets of water.
It was also alot quicker to fill up the machine.

Not when you have an inline heater.
My last porty had 2 inline heaters, so even very cold water heated up quick

I really wish I could have found some tap connectors for various taps.
I could just never trust them, turn your back and suddenly water is spurting everywhere, there's just too many different hot tap designs.
Gone back to buckets for now.

Only seem to be filling Speedster once ........... 4 buckets is normally more than enough if rinsing MP, as marks are mobile by that stage

A point worth mentioning, is " method " If you prepare the surface adequately, by ensuring the bulk of dry soiling has been removed, use a truly effective prespray, aggitating, or allowing the correct dwell time, you will require less water for rinsing.

One of the most critical features of a bucket for a porty user is the pouring lip. I wouldn't dream of using a bucket without one. I don't see one on this s/s bucket.
Also, @ 15 litres, it is 33% bigger than most buckets, so there may be problems with tap clearance in many kitchen sinks.
Safe and happy cleaning

We are using customers sinks as well, don't think I'd be comfortable putting a big stainless steel bucket in someone else's sink, at least plastic won't scratch.

actually Ken and Gary make very good points which I didn't consider, I take back my recommendation of these buckets and perhaps offer an alternative use for them.......
all those people who voted that they earn £500 a day, buy these buckets to carry all your money to the bank, the lids will stop it all blowing away

I use the CFR machines and one of the major benifits of these machines is they suck up the water from the sink, I really do not miss filling up buckets from customers sinks.
The 400 machine turns the vacuum off when full as well
while the updated 500 does not
