Any Hot hose updates?

Hello Mr Solubility, happy New Year to you. Patience is a virtue. I wondered how long you could last before you asked the question about hot hose. How's your heater system going? I had my first problem today but was quickly helped out by Glynn from Omnipole, so a big thank-you to him and the others there :)
I'm not starting work until next week but wanted to make sure everything is working fine and that my batteries are nicely re-charged after a long break.

Happy new year to you to mate, when i enquired about this heater i wanted to know how reliable they were and what were the things that could go wrong,i told him that my system has been really reliable and hasn`t let me down running cold water only,i said i`d like one but only if you can assure me that it`s reliable and he said the only thing that happens occasionally is you need to reset the switch. Why what happens and if they know this why don`t they fix the problem,i`m probobly going to wait till the new van as i`ll have more room.

I had to re-set the thermostats because they had tripped out. It's a built in safety feature of the unit to prevent the heater being damaged if the water overheats.
It's a matter of unscrewing four screws and pressing in2 buttons inside the front cover of the unit. I've run my heater for 62 hours since end of Nov 07 and this is the first time I've needed to re-set the thermostats.
This is the first real problem I've encountered with the exception of having too low a battery (amperage wise, (for the heater), connected to a second battery running off a split charge relay to run the heater continuously for a very long period. I've now replaced the 30amp battery for a 110amp instead so I won't drain the battery between charges.

Hi Wayne,
The heaters okay but it sometimes doesn't shut off when it should, so I'm looking at a morco f11 which is all singing all dancing state of the art. The only issue with this is if I can achieve an acceptably low flow rate.(2.4?)

I think that in general it may be that there is an issue when the gas bottle is low/pressure drops, and the brains inside these things go a bit docile.

My other ongoing scheme is to get a powered reel for winding in.

Hi, good luck with your heater. As for the powered hose reel, NWH gave you the websites for the reels you're on about. I had a look out of curiosity, they're well expensive.
My only advice is 'KISS' Keep It Simple Stupid' - forget the fancy, complicated stuff and look for decent quality, reliable, simple tools that do the job they promise to. If it's simple then there's less to go wrong. You'll probably end up spending a fortune on all these DIY gas heating systems and lose so much time fault finding and time off work that you might consider 'biting the bullet' and investing in a reliable, tried & tested unit without all the grief, it's your decision. Good luck with it anyway :)

Steve, the heater I use is Omnipole's hot water unit which is on there website. Nothing in life is perfect, but it's been very good to me so far so I'm not complaining yet :)

Hi Wayne
Same heater has mine  only just had it fitted but having a few problems think its got something to do with the diesel supply. Fault light flame out keeps coming on after a few minutes also had afew white puffs of smoke today prob got a bit of air in system or maybe bit of crap in the tank ( separate diesel tank fitted ). Since iv been home iv disconected diesel supply and hooked it up to a jerry can i will see if any change when out at work tomorrow . Every thing on the system seams ok was fitted by a corgi plumber so he knows his stuff. All i want is hot water its cold in yorkshire

Hello Steve,

just watched your vid on utube. Why do you only scrub half a pane of glass at a time on the larger panes of glass whilst scrubbing. It's quicker to wash/scrub the whole pane (vertically) in one go because it saves work and time. No offence intended, just trying to help you :)
I like your ladderless window cleaning picture on utube. Is there anychance I could use that pic for leaflets I sometimes leave customers if you have no objections in emailing it for my use.
My heater draws the fuel straight from a jerry can and I've had no problems. The only frustrating problem I've had is the battery they fitted was too small, and I was running out of usable amps daily, so I replaced it with a 110 amp battery instead.
What warning light comes on with your unit?

Did you ever decide which way to go with it?  I mean are you doing the extension section so that it can take SL2 extensions or did you decide to do it another way?
