[easy clean]

today i decided to rip out the old ply in the van, what i thought would be absolutely wrotten and was expecting to find a rusty floor

much to my amazement the floor was perfect, i couldn't believe it

anyway armed with some new ply, 4 lengths of 2" x 1" batton and protecta cote away i go, i tell you what i think i'm wasted as a window cleaner, you'd think i was a carpenter after todays result

got wood down and surround, gave it 2 coats of protecta and i've now got the worst head ache ever!! oh my god that stuff stinks

HOW MANY COATS DO YOU GUYS PUT DOWN?

if someone explains how to upload pics, i take a few toorrow when it's finished

Pffft, I bought 4l can, waaaaaay to much lol.

I'm going to do 2 coats, just finished doing the first this afternoon. Xylene thinner and protecta coat, good way to get high. Whoa, that stuff is strong.

I did about 5 coats! Seeing that I payed £80 for the protecta-cote I might as well use it up. The more coats you put on, the better

I used 2 coats. Liked the look of it so toyed with the idea of not putting ply down on top. But went sensible and decided to put it down anyway. Will save me constantly repairing and avoid christmas next year with the ply taken out. I too have about a 3rd of a tin and I coated a primastar. Didnt use the rollers just dabbed it all over.

i left it till it was touch dry (around a couple of hours i think)

i doesn't turn rubbery its solid when dry

how long did you all leave between coats and how long does it take to dry out?

when its dry does it feel like it's a sheet of rubber?

2-6 hours depending on conditions, in this weather, leave it 6 hours. I left it overnight.

Was it the van floor or the wood you gave two coats?

Just finished applying 2nd coat. Really made it look the way it should. 1 Coat simply doesn't do it. 2nd coat is beautiful.

ian, i painted it onto the wood, first coat mainly was absorbed by the wood, then it got one late last night 10:00, then at lunchtime today it was still a bit tacky but not so much as to mark your fingers, then this afternoon it had another thin coat, now the van is outside with a radiator set on a low heat to take the chill off tonight. then it'll get one more final coat tomorrow

gotta use it up, absolutely trashed the lid trying to get it open

took some pics today so if someone can tell me how then i'll post them

You're supposed to paint it onto the steel :

If wooden lining rots, you can replace it.............................

Here's my Berlingo. Looks okay, need to remove some that went under the masking tape tho, but that's online upclose really.

lol just noticed on the picture there is some on the driver's seat, strange, I put it all the way forward and was very careful heh, oh well.
