GETTING MY PURE FREEDOM 40INCH RO VAN MOUNT 2MOR I KNOW THERES A COUPLE OF LADS WITH THEM WINDOW WASHERS ONE OF THEM JUST WONDERED WHAT THE MONTHLY RUNNING COSTS AMOUNT TO ROUGHLY (NOT INCLUDING WATER) HOW OFFEN DO YOU LADS FLUSH THEM OUT ETC.

With changing your resin and filters once or twice a year £50,flush it before you fill for 5mins it will get the reading down before you adjust the waste to make water.I used to give mine a good flush out every week for about 20mins,if you look after it the resin will last for a year.The cost above is for 1 change of resin and pre filters,flushing the membrane will save the pre filters.

if you are in a hard water area ask if you can get another di vessal fitted as you will save money on resin.

I flush my RO every 2 fills for 10 mins (and I use pure water to do it  ), pre filters once a month, maybe I dont need to, but at the cost they are I prefer to save the membrain.

they is a nice cafe in grisby where andrew drops you off, also a libary where you get 30 mins free internet connection, the bus company do a day ticket which I got and stayed on most of the day to amuse myself also there is an arcade (won quite a bit in there) and bingo with the old ladies was fun anything to pass the time and it feels like your a kid waiting for christmas.
Im on second bag of resin so would say about a bag every other month with 1 di 2 di's 1 bag every 3x.

I do agree on the flushing for a few mins each fill and a decent flush once or twice a week.

Where I disagree is the one change of resin a year. It's impossible to say this. So much depends on tap TDS, water pressure and the amount of water used. You would be very lucky to get away with one change of resin a year in a hard water area. Like wot I am in

I've got a Pure Freedom 40 inch sys and also an Ionics one. ( I ruined the Ionics membrane coz I didnt flush regularly)  Lesson learned and the Freedom one does me fine.

OOPS I was just about to post his and saw Ian's thingy about flushing with pure water. Seems a bit convoluted to me. You would do far better by adding a softener unit before your pre-filters Ian.

In essence yep!!   For what they earn you it's peanuts.

What you have to watch out for using a whole house softener though is that during and after regeneration of the softening resin the TDS out of the softener is off the scale!!!  By that I mean literally 1000's of TDS. The best way to do it is have a very basic unit just for the RO system and disconnect it and run the output to waste for a while until the TDS comes down again to normal levels. The softener will take most if not all of the limescale= out of the tap water before it hits the RO system doign a couple of things. Reduced TDS out of the RO and much better membrane protection. It's easy to add a kit whenever you want to.

I am not sure how long you have been wfp NWH but where I live 1/2 resins changes a year  I wish my tds is over 470, maybe if I had a 7ft tall di vessal it may last thAT LONG BUT IT IS 16INCH i THINK, and needs changing nearly weekly.
But I do change resin when it starts to rise over 001 hence the reason for second di vessal as it is a waste just to throw it away IMO.

You may say I talk rubbish and you are welcome to add your opinion, but I think you are wrong

how much water do you use a day ? I am getting through about 600

And 370 is low tds, my water is hard 470+

Seriously mate i don`t mean to have a dig at you but there`s got to be something wrong with that membrane,if your flushing it no matter what the tap output even if you changed your pre filters there only 20 quid for the pair a time,if your getting your after RO readings down to anything sensible and you should with a 40x40 the resin will last ages.With a 40x40 your pre resin reading should be no higher than 5ppm most of the time it will get it down to 2-3 if regularly flushed,you havn`t had your RO system long and when they first come there filled with a fluid that will need flushing out it`s put in because it`s shipped from abroad ie stops it drying out,if yours has been shipped from abroad and has this fluid-chemical in it it will eat the first couple of cans of resin before it`s thoroughly cleaned out of the unit,after which it should settle down and the resin should last ages.
