Is Safe contractor worth having?
We are considering getting safe contractor accreditation. Would we be better off with doing an IOSH course.
Safe contractor can be achieved with our existing H & S policy, risk assessments etc, but I don't know whether IOSH would carry more clout with prospectives clients.
Has anyone got either of these and if so what are your comments.

All i can add is that s/c is client specific, so it only carries any clout with s/c clients.

I personally do not have either, but if was to make to choice I would go safe contractor, as most would understand what it means.

iv done my iosh training and im also in the middle of being audited.

When iv mentioned to commercail jobs about these the know nothing about who or what they stand for.

So what are the benefits with S/C.  IOSH is a regognised H & S certificate, and applies to all companies requiring certification, whereas S/C is only recognised amongst the companies that are registered with them.
Is that about right?

If you expect to get work from being SC forget it.
If you want to sit back and know you have safe practices in place which you tell people you have, then go SC
