« on: December 04, 2007, 08:21:01 pm »
Hi all,

What size van would you say would be acceptable to take a 400ltr tank and gear?

Been using a trolley system but have got so busy a van mount is my only option now.

Cheers.

Fiat Doblo!!!   The best small van around!!  :)

Ideal for a flat 400 ltr tank. Other than that Citroen despatch/Peugot equivalent or the Fiat equivalent.. soz but I can't remember the other 2 names but they are the same van under different names.

ive got a (new shape) combo with a 375 litre tank, i don't normally fill it all the way up but it handles the weight with no probs and pulls up hills with excellent mpg!!

Doblo has a payload of 736kg - I use one with a 400L tank.

Mine is flat - I recommend an upright to give you more room for a hosereel at the back.

You'll need a good bit of payload for a 400 ltr tank.
400KG for the water
40 kg for the tank and cage/straps
40 kg for a tank of fuel
90 odd KG for yourself
90 odd kg for a passenger
15 kg for your trolley
80 kg for assorted gear/ladders etc

755kg total,.. give or take.

I've got a 400 litre tank in a 600kg Pug partner,.. but never fill it to the top,... I'll be getting a bigger van soon!

Escort can't cope with 400L tank and kit.

I had one and it wallowed, barely braked, and barely moved.
I squatted so much it looked like it was having a dump.

I wouldn't put half a ton or so in anything less than 1000kg payload.
No point straining something that can only take 7 or 800.

700/800kg payload and a 400L tank is fine if it is single operator.

Yours must have been a bucket mate and a 55 model

mines a td 75 model can carry Gross Payload(Kg):   715 and drives in a straight line and dosent struggle
